Dave I personally enjoy the highjacks. I have thrown a few out there myself. Plus if there were no Olds highjacks we may never have gotten the cult feature that gives us pics of various Ms. Golden Hurst beauties. We need to keep the circlitory systems of all our old folks working and a few of us that are getting older. So really this is just a public services.:Brow:

As to liking older bigger Pontiac's I like them too. That is why we ended up with 13 cars. We had no large Pontiac's for the shootout and thankfully Mr. Glasgo was more than willing to rectify that issue for us.

    One other thought/regret.

My initial thought went directly to two cars that I believed were must haves. One I knew was unlikely so I did not push but did extend an impassioned bid to. In the end it was not even a consideration. A very understandable situation as the car is perminetly retired.

I personally will miss not having Dan's original T-37 running as it is the car that determined to me what is still my favorite all time Pontiac motor. I even offered my own HO motor for use as to not risk his numbers motor. Dan's T-37 HO and Dennis's RA IV Judge were the first two cars I thought were important. Both cars are famous and have pulled covers for this type of racing going back to the 80's. I still have those magazines and they definitly defined my desire to join the fun one day when returning from college out in AZ. Fortunately Dan will be down enjoying the day with us.

Since I am waxing poetic I must give due to Jim Mino's RA II and Bob K's expliots in the Superbee as inspirational also.

I too would LOVE to see Dan run , one of the grass roots guys who started it all . He never gets to enjoy running his car because he's to busy making sure every thing is going smooth for all of us.
Come on Dan ,even Yzerman gets to be a regular guy and have fun in the off season..:beer

Great people and fun cars together for an afternoon of pavement pounding.

Hopefully,we can attract more Ponchos in pure stock trim to the tripower nats this summer.

Hum, I race a GTO at the pure stock drags can I play too? Norwalk is close to home so travel isn't an issue.I got 'wind" of the this event over on the "PY" before Christmas and have emailed HP thirty sometimes about this and not once has anyone got back with me. So I guess my question is this.Is there a form to fill out?Or to you just show up? Thanks Mark

In the V8 Buick time honored tradition of completely hijacking a thread with Oldsmobile pictures, I figure I have to do my part. Would this be considered a Hurst Olds Tri-Power 3x2 set-up??

Sorry Bruno I am propagating lies around here now. How in the world did I mix that up? Of course you and I talk so much engine stuff who can keep it straight. Being 40 for just a couple months and my mind has gone to sludge.

Noel check your PM. I will see what can be done. Unfortunately it is not a show up and race event.

It was a very tough decision for me on who I asked. And everyone asked but Dan accepted. I truly did not want to leave anyone out just the realities presented to me. I felt there were several people such as Jim Mino, Mike Wallagora, Rob, yourself and others that got side lined and it was not easy for me to have to do.

In the end I tried to go for the largest cross section of car and motor combo's possible. Trying to include everything from tri-powers to D port RA's, all the round port variants and sized from small (350) to large (455).

Rob do not worry you would not have slowed us down that job is for Larry's car. His '69 T/A is a loaded pig. It has a/c and lots of power items and we are leaving the stock 3.23 gears in. It will be fun to see what it can do as it has not been to the track since before the resto/engine rebuild when Dan took it for a day before tear down romp at Stanton. It ran a best of 14.25 @ 98.

Congrats to all of you guys! If I had the scratch right now,I'd be on the prowl for a Poncho!

More great news for Pontiac enthusiasts and Pure Stock friends.

While talking to Tom DeMauro about allowing Noel to race his 400 HO GTO with us I mentioned we were short a couple early GTO's/Pontiac's and maybe he would allow a few next year. I mentioned that there was plenty of additional racers interested. He graciously offered to up the ante to 16 cars this year. That is FOUR entire issues of exclusively Pure Stock Pontiac's.

Better yet as we both understood that not everyone can be included even at 16 cars he agreed to let a handful of cars run in upcoming years. If anyone has interest or has some new Pontiac's in process for the races let me know. I will work on getting you in a future shootout as Tom has asked me again for assistance in organizing racers for him. No promises of course depending on how many people come forward but Tom has generously extended positions again in the future. It goes without saying that it is most fair for new drivers to get first shot at the openings. No hurry here as it will be spring of '08. Just please keep it in mind.

With all the generosity of High Performance Pontiac, I again ask that we support their fine magazine as they are really putting forth an effort for us only seen to this point by MCE.

I posted the adds in the first post also and corrected the year of Tom Glasgo's Cat.

    Welcome:

Brad Rising: '64 389 Tripower GTO
Bruce Hayes: '65 389 Tripower GTO
Noel Drach: '68 400 HO GTO

I am glad all three of you are going to join us. What a great group of guys and cars. I would like to thank all 15 guys for all the help.
