I have a favor to ask everyone. Please send your requests to me for the Pavement Pounders shoot outs. Tom is being loaded up with complaints form people for not being included. Tom is working very hard for us and I ask that we please not make him sorry for turning over such a large portion of the magazine to us. We will receive 7 pages for each of the 4 articles (1/3rd of the years articles). That is 28 total pages dedicated to us. We began with six cars only. He increased it to 12 and I begged in a 13th as a favor. He then opened it up to 16 last week so we could round out the field with some early cars which we were sorely missing. At this point he has two issues. One any cars over 16 incurres a substantial increase in the track rental expense, and two he is affraid that it is already a tough task to interview and shoot all 16 cars and participants in one day. The potentially good news is he is working on an additional shootout for us to happen yet this year. The detials are not ironed out and the amount of cars are still to be decided. Remember we had 27 Pontiac's at this falls race and many traditional Pontiac racers like myself, Mike Wallagora, Dennis Jensen, Scott Tieman, and Dan did not even participate in Pontiac's. That means we have potentially over 30 drivers wanting a limited amount of spaces. We did the best we could to not over represent any one type of car. We tried to get the broadest cross section of cars and motor types we could. We want to show the readership that you do not need a RA IV or HO to come and join us. If you run a 350 or 389 four barrel that is just as good and welcome as a rare or faster combo. Yes there are some cars that may have seemed more obvious such as Jim Mino's RA II's as he has been doing it since the 1980's. Maybe even a bit of nepotism happened but I would suggest very little as several guys I count as friends or race acquaintances with faster cars or cars with more history than many included were not invited. In the end though the list is very balanced between first gen F bodies, second gen cars, A bodies and one lone big bodied car. The engines included are balanced also having big and small valve 350 HO's, 389 tripowers, 421 tripower HO, '69 and '70 RA IV's, 455 HO and SD's, D port RA and HO 400's of various years etc. I APPOLOGIZE to anyone who has felt slighted by not being included in the first round of cars. It was not intentional by any means and I was given basic criteria and some individual racers or cars that were to be asked first. I tried the best I could to be fair and present the best cross section to the readership. Remember Tom will likely get complaints to the letters section that "all he does anymore is have PS race cars..." With all the space we have been given. Lets not make him sorry for doing so. I do already have a very short list of people who would like to be included in a future opportunity. We likely will have more room than I have been asked for. Please PM me (not Tom) and I will do everything I can to get everyone an opportunity. Tom has asked me again to organize this for him. Please remember though I am only the messenger and can only do with what I am offered by the magazine. Casey your saying that if I keep Donny away I will get a Christmas card? If that is the case count me in. Sorry Donny the Vette is out. The complaint department over at Casey's house is taking calls currently. I always root for the HO's:laugh: 350 HO's that is. Mark
