I see we've advanced to personal attacks. That's where I stop because it becomes a stupid battle and I'm a little lacking in that department.

BTW, saddam didn't do the wtc attacks, osama did (he's still running free 3 years later), seems as though everyone has forgotten that little tidbit of information.

    Dropping Bombs

This war started with VERY calulated BOMBING.

That TERRORIST leader thought he was untouchable..... But he is sitting in an AMERICAN jail today.....

There was a very calulated BOMB dropped yesterday...

The 1st bombs that are dropped will be VERY calulated, with BOMBS dropping at a fast pace, with 223's following up.

The Middle East will always be a trouble spot. I am a US Navy veteran. All I can say is that I remember what happened to the USS Cole on Clinton's watch.....and for that matter the USS Liberty on President Johnson's watch when I was a kid. Atleast Pres. Bush is doing something about this. ........John

saddam was a brutal dictator for sure, but there was never any evidence that he caused the attacks of 9-11. within a day or two of 9-11, it was announced that bin laden was wanted dead or alive for the attacks.

the justification for invading irag was the yet to be found WMD. condie rice scared us with her talk of the impending mushroom cloud. after no WMD's were found, it changed to freeing the iraqi people, and then it changed to a democratic iraq is essential to a safe america. bad intel my foot, the man flat out lied.

the day saddam was captured was the day we should've pulled out. it may feel good to kill someone who looks like, and talks like the terrorists, but the citizens of iraq were not the enemy, of course they will be now, and probably for the next 1000 years. since iraq was run by one man and one man only, its absurd to blame the iraqi's for the actions of saddam. they had no say in the actions of their govt, thats what a dicatatorship is.

sure a handfull of terrorists went to iraq to engage us, and to encourage the iraqi's to fight us after we invaded, after all, we were almost nowhere to be found in afghanistan.

a democratic iraq will not make us safer, if anything we have only created the next generation of those who will hate the US.

since saddam has been captured, and there is no wmd, the only reason we are still fighting there is so we can install our own form of govt.

i ask, who amongst us would not stand and fight if some outsiders were to invade our homeland, capture our president, and attempt to install their own form of govt ?

if that happened, i would throw all my guns in my truck and go where i could kill the most invaders, i think everyone here would do the same.

its naieve to expect anything else from the citizens of iraq.

like it or not, the insurgents are for the most part the citizens of iraq who want to install their own form of govt much like we did here in 1776. in other words, they want to create their own democracy. bush wants to install his own form of govt. last i heard, that is called a dictatorship.

a can do attitude is a great thing, but right now, we dont have the military capability to clean up the world. like it or not, that is the reality. i wont be a bit surprised if we try to invade iran, and maybe N. Korea. that will require a draft, get used to that idea. we can nuke any country right off the map in a week, but we dont have the conventional forces to change the world any time soon.

i do believe if we nuke the oil fields we will have a fire that cant be extinquised, one that would eventually block out the sun, and end civilization as we know it. also, if we do nuke them, we may get a nuclear surprise of our own. so nuking everybody is not a solution.

the marine should NOT be prosecuted or disciplined in any way, but they are already saying that justice will be served. if you want to help him out, put pressure on your congressperson.

i know theres alot of republicans on this board, heck, i was one myself up until just a few weeks ago.

Just for the record....17 US sailors were killed during the attack on the USS Cole and 34 US sailors were killed on the USS Liberty. We were not at war with either Yemen or Israel at the time. An attack on a United States warship should be considered an act of war....plain and simple and should be dealt with accordingly. ............John

Let's just assume for the sake of arguement we win this war in Iraq.......the elections do take place (and I don't think it will be in January)..........also assume that more than 25% of the Iraqi population actually shows up to vote..........and also assume the election is fair............and Muhammed Mohammed wins.........then we pull all of our troops out after babysitting for a few years to make sure it sticks (also assuming it stuck)............how long do you think it will take before some savage bunch of animals try to overthrow the new government?

If they are taking bets, I'll spend my money on the grilled cheese with the Virgin Mary in it on ebay. :bglasses:

I don't want to sound negative, but if they don't do any better than the ones at the police station that got rounded up and executed, it won't last long at all.

I hope they get enough of a taste of freedom to want to fight for it themselves.

    Our Soldiers

My son was in Iraq for a year working secret missions with the CIA and he finds it hard to talk about what he saw going on there. If you've never been in battle, if you've never seen first hand what is going on over there, if you've never heard a bullet wizz past your helmet or heard the sound of a bullet hitting the guy next to you or were the one to help place a fellow soldiers body parts in a body bag to ship home, you shouldnt say a word. Every soldier I've talked to believes in what we are doing there. Many I know have re-uped. I'm not sorry to say that that Marine that killed that terrist should be given a medal. I'm not there and neither are any of you. We're home looking through parts magizines while our men are in Iraq are loading magizines. GOD bless them all, and may your loved ones come home alive and in one piece. By the way, my son re-up this past Sept. He's 28.

If the story is true... I recall that during the elections, a story came out that John Kerry chased down an unarmed, wounded combatant in Vietnam during a skirmish from his swift boat. He caught up with him and shot him in the back and killed him. He was hailed as a hero for his actions in Vietnam. Have the perceptions of war changed? Dennis

I have been reading these posts for thew last few days and have stayed quiet. Two reasons,

I needed to make sure I didn't just blurt something out and

I seem to be a thread killer.

Anyway,I have a question for the people who are slamming our troops and President.

What is the difference between 12/7/41 and 9/11/01 ?

Nothing except in 01 civilians were attacked and in 41 our military was attacked.

In 41 should we have just fought the Japanese and when they were defeated come home? No,we went after Germany and Italy, why? Because they were allies of Japan and posed a threat to the United States.

Al Quida attacked the United States ( and many other countries ) when they bombed the trade Center.Should we just go after Al Quida then come home saying we won? No,because other countries who outwardly supported and promoted terrorism pose a threat to the United States.

Time and again we have been attacked, and our past Presidents stood by and did nothing.Bush is the only one who has had the courage to go after terrorists who have outwardly attacked and supported attacks against our citizens.

    Did Bush lie?
    I don't think he did.
    Was he misinformed?
    I believe he was.
Do I think He did the right thing?
Yes,and I will support him until the end.
Do I think Gore or Kerry would have made a better decision?
    I honestly don't know.

Whether you like Bush or not,the fact of the matter is he is the President, and no matter your politics,we need to support our President,no matter who is in office and hope that the decisions that He makes turn out for the better.

I know many reservists who have been in Iraq and Afghanistan, and many of them have volunteered to go back. They have opened hundreds of schools, given freedom to many areas of Iraq that previously lived in fear of being slaughtered just because of their family liniage. There are many good things that our being over there have produced, that it has brought many of my friends to tears because of the hugs, handshakes and kisses given to them by these citizens who now know what freedom is about.

We need to put our blind hatred for one man,our lack of knowledge, and petty complaints and support these brave men and women sacrificing their time and lives to help make life better for people who have lived in fear and suppresion for generations.

Excellent point Kase........perhaps if our prez would have made his case to the world using that analogy he would not be criticized. The beheadings and awful things our enemy is doing is a lot like the nazi's did during that time. :bglasses:

Im not trying to go into a personal attack, but here we go:

Nobody doubts that osama did the wtc bombings
75% of osama's buddies are either A) DEAD or B) Captured
Now, with almost all of his people dead and his network of terrorists disrupted/destroyed, It will be a hell of a lot harder for him to attack america.
Now, as for capturing some guy with a rag on his head, and hides in caves, and only his closest friends who will die for him know his whereabouts, it is no surprise we still havent got him. We have the best intelligence agencies in the world working on this, and we havent got him for one reason- we dont know where he is... its not because we messed up raiding his house or something. Its a little complicated to find somebody hiding underground in an area that is clearly some of the worlds harshest terrains.

Now Sadam may or may not have anything to do with the WTC attacks, but im sure he was living it up watching the planes crash - and for that he should die. If sadam was still in power, Osama would have a person who he could easily acquire rockets, high explosives, etc and a country that would be a safe haven for him. The fact remains even if you feel we shouldnt be in Iraq, you must admit that Sadam was evil, and should at some point be removed from power. Its better off that we do it now, and show these bastards we will not live in fear, and we will cover the globe searching and killing these pieces of crap until the end of time. But hey thats my opinion and sorry for any personal assults etc. Everybody has a right to opinion, but please support our troops.

I can sympathize. These threads usually get carried away, and there is usually an exodus afterwards. Its best to just say your peice and get back to the other threads. On several occaisions I've notice some board members disappear after similar threads. "Fast With Class?"

It is interesting what has been implied about "me" in threads such as this. Not individually, but as someone with a differing opinion. Someone as pathetic as I must be underserving of consideration.

The splitting (one extreme or the other, no middle) attitudes are interesting too - if the world were only that simple...

Another curious thing is how those with differing opinions are accused of "believing" the "biased" media. It makes me wonder where the other side's information comes from, if the media is so one-sided. There must be some other "media" that is physically incapable of bias or mistakes... either that or its unproductive emotional out-lashes. Opps, I'm splitting

As far as WWII, wasn't Japan was the last to fall?

However, we nuked two cities instead of military installtions. I'm well aware of the rationalizations of both sides of that argument. The fact is, though, that we killed a large number of civilians.

And finally, if we need to support the president, then why does our system have elections before the president has filled his maximum allowed sentence?

It really does not matter if Japan was the last to fall. The fact of the matter is that we did not wage war against just Japan, but their allies too.

Also, there are other outlets of news sources besides ABC,NBC,CBS,CNN,MSNBC.All of which are owned and run by powerful Democratic supporters. The majority of newspapers that are influential are also owned and run by Democratic supporters.

Fox news and many small newspapers with limited circulation, along with independant websites and soldiers personal websites seem to tell quite a bit different story than the major networks and papers.

The farther away from major cities, the more unbiased the news seems to get. When I am in New Orleans,I read and hear total negativity of the war,but when I am home, about 50 miles away from New Orleans,I hear and see more of the positive that is going on in the war.

War is horrible,it always will be,but if someone is going to scream and holler about what is going on,they should at least do more to research what is truly going on that what they see in hear in the "major news outlets"

As for supporting our President, during election time, sure, support your candidate.Go out and speak on his behalf.Vote and get others to vote.Be passionate in all that you do to try to get him elected. There was plenty of that on this board, and it is wonderful to see how each person stood their ground for who they thought was the better candidate.I believe it went a bit extreme at times, and even left the board for the last week or two because of all the hatred towards each candidate, but once the elections are over, our country should reunite and support whoever it is that won.

The news from other countries have yet another view on what's going on. Fox national news is a joke as far as professionalism and ability is concerned.

My point about media is that if some media can be accused of bias, they all can. It is a fruitless accusation.

When I mentioned members leaving, I didn't mean for a couple weeks - I meant permanently.

    My point about Japan, well....
As for attacking allies - there is no proof Sadam was allied in any way.

While a President is making decisions for the country (any decisions, not just war), if he were supported merely because he is President, then he can safely assume the majority of people agree. However, if people speak out, their voices may be taken into consideration (of course, how many Presidents have done this? lol).

Not that it matters whenever the country is split nearly in half, or being a final term. However, the concept is sound, and I'm not going to make the leaders feel good about not finishing up in Afghanistan just because they have another term.

I think a major player in all the hatred directed toward the Americans is Al Jazeera, the Islamic slanted Arabian television network. They are saying on Fox News that this organization has been airing this incident over and over where the soldier shoots the scum in the head. But they haven't even shown the beheading of that woman Iraqi aid worker even once. No wonder the Islamic people hate us........I think we should send a few bombs over to Al Jazeera. Fox news isn't far behind..........fair and balanced? I don't think so. I'd sure like to see an independent news source that tells it like it is........is Paul Harvey still on the radio? :bglasses:
