WOW:eek2: Are we really only a month away from the Superbowl of all MUSCLECAR events, the PURE STOCK MUSCLECAR DRAG RACE in STANTON,MICHIGAN? Man, where has the last year gone??????? Well, who's ready, and who has their stuff scattered all over the garage? I have a 70 GS with the 315hp 350 that I'm bringing. I've wanted to see what one of these will run stock for a long time. We pulled the engine out of my brothers 69 Chevelle sunday and have to either fix or replace it. Have some prospects lined up for the wife, the trick is going to be getting the deal wrapped-up, and the car shipped here before the raceou: This vehicle search has taken WAY too long.
What you got lined up for the wife? Put me down as stuff scattered all over. But I did get the 71 ready and can't wait for this Canada race :TU:
Rent the Cutlass from Tim and Rhonda....Just make sure you don't run against her as she'll hand you your ass on a platter...   :bglasses: :bglasses: I hope to make it, but will be in a golf cart again.
Got a car, and an engine. I am currently adding a TH400 to this equation and that equals me There!!! Cant wait :TU:
Tom, there's also plenty of time for you to sell the car and buy another one. :bla: hey, you know someone had to say it. while I don't have things scattered all over the garage ... yet, I haven't started swapping the engine yet either.
Count us in the "Stuff scattered" catagory, only it's moving boxes instead of car parts!!! Who's idea was it to move anyhow??? Good news is we are unpacked and settled in enough now to make the race. We have located the Liquor Jiggler molds and Tami will be making as many as we can carry there. The car survived the trip to Georgia for the H/O meet and is untouched and running still from Martin. We will BE THERE! Oh, and when your wife gets her ride, I'll put Tami in the drivers seat of the H/O for the ultimate wife vs wife, Buick vs Olds throwdown! :spank: Paul
My Cobra is together. Just done a few small cosmetic things under the hood. I've been driving it a little on the street cause the whole Woodward thing is going on this week.
with 2 weeks to go, I've been slowly knocking out things on the to do list. hope to install a new (unbutchered) engine harness this weekend.
Yeah ????? well Me too. just a few cosmetic things under the hood. Weelllllll I don't know what i was thinking but with no alcohol we pulled the whole front end to bare frame rails and bare firewall. It does look nice and pretty now!!!!! It's been 20 years since I redid the frame and car ,and everything was just black. What can I say -it was just bugging me!!ou: Hope to have it back together in time. If not I'll bring the Montego.???
All the brakes are done and suspension. Jeremy stayed late to help me Bleed the brakes. Came out pretty nice if I say so myself. Hope to set the motor and trans back in this weekend. The front clip wednesday or Thursday.
I'm not a fan of last minute thrashing. So I went into the garage yesterday to finalize some 'cosmetic' details for Stanton... fired up the engine, and opened the hood only to get sprayed with coolant from the fan! Guess a crack developed somewhere in the rad core since mid August [#€!]. I'm trying to decide if discovering it is bad luck or good luck? Oh well, time to roll up my sleeves (put me in the scattered on the floor category for now).
hmmmmmmmmmm...... Friday weather, upper 60's. Could be a fast air, and a cold track! Bring your drivers! Peterp o No: :Brow:
Drove to Canada last night, was to windy to paint around here.Sooooo went and got drunk with Jimmy while we painted the inner fenders and radiator support. Came out nice.. Got the Motor and trans in so far tonight. Hope to set the front end back on tommorrow. Will be test driving this weekend- be at Milan dragway wednesday... See everyone next Friday.
I went and used my gift certificate for a dyno tune at Jake's Automotive yesterday. Thanks, to Rusty for trading door prizes with me in Martin. I took Bob Boden and Ron Tuttle with me to help out and to make sure I'm stock. It was successful. Found 5hp more and 10 ft/lbs more of torque. The biggest things are that we made the power band a little wider and found that after the hp peak the power stays up there a lot longer than expected. HP stays does not fall of drastically till 6400rpm! I'm gonna have to move my shift points around and see what happens! Jake's Automotive was a great place to do the Dyno tune session. The owner, Gary Jacob, and the tech, Jason, we worked with were very cool. Highly recommend these guys. http://www.jakesautomotive.com/ Thanks again to Bob, Ron, & Jake's Automotive.
So..... that means you have 195 HP at the rear wheels instead of only 190?? C'mon Chris, spill the beans. What were the final top numbers??? :bglasses:
