Dynomax Stainless Turbo - A little throatier -But no kackel. Sound mean. Jeremy put them on his car and thought they sounded pretty good, so I tried them. I cut one of the old ones open like Ramitlonger did and there was nothing left. ALL the baffles looked like $Hit, Chunks everywhere in the case. Hoping to have the same effect as Frank and pick a liittle up on the big end. Also drilled a small hole in the low part of the exhaust pipe to drain condensation, cause even the flowmaster tail pipes are starting to rott already!!:blast: Looks like a PYPES stainless upgrade for her car to in a couple years.
Sounds like the way to go...Thanks. Didn't realize Frankendart also had that problem. Chinesium strikes again...
You guys need to start fogging your cars EVERYTIME you put them away. Your valve seats and exhaust system will thank you later. :Smarty:

Except for the LH tailpipe, my original factory exhaust system lasted 31 years, no problem with valve seats up to that point either. That included two 5 year stints where it wasn't even started. Car ran exactly what it should with the untouched 31 year old engine, too. :bglasses:
One of the years when it was brand new, I did oil the cylinders with a Plews oiler, then put the plugs back in loosely. pushed it outside in the Spring, removed the plugs and spun it over with the starter...Talk about self lubricating. I think the combination of superior materials and also really getting it hot before putting it away really helped. Only real scare at startup was one year when it was about 7 or 8 years old, I stazrted it up and drove over to a neighbors. Glanced back to see smoke pouring out of the interior from the dash. Lighter was glowing red, so I grabbed it and threw it out the window. Melted a little plastic around the opening, burned the crap out of my fingers, but no further damage. Lucky..
Not so much a collapsed/defective muffler, but two poorly DESIGNED mufflers. Custom made for Mopars out of Oregon-Accurate Ltd. Poorly designed to the tune of costing me about a FULL SECOND in ET and 5 MPH! I qualified at PSMCDR in 2008 with ~I think~ a 14.10 @ 99 mph. I swapped out the two mufflers the next week for a set of Dyno Max Super Turbos and ran at Milan to the tune of 13.26 @ 103.4! I'll have to load up the photos of the muffler ~innards~ when I get home. I wonder what a mandrel bent 2 1/2" system would yield over my 2 1/4" compression bent system........
This is what a poorly designed muffler looks like inside. The exhaust gasses had to travel from chamber to chamber via six 1/2" holes. Talk about exhaling thru a straw.....ou: ou:
I'm surprised Frank, that you went with the Super Turbo mufflers. I would have thought that you would have installed a "straight through" design muffler, like the Ultra Flow mufflers.
Release the FURY!!!! Sorry old gag- not to many probably remember that one. Frank the Summit turbos weren't to much better- Hoping my JJ walker DYNOMAXs do the trick. Definatly sounds meaner.
wellllll - also it was a gag with Kurt and Mr. Peterson with there MAXI cars. A Jimmy Johnson not so sober Moment. Quite funny at the time. Release the FURY!!!!! Kind of a bring it on jab to his Vette.
I didn't have my PSMCDR Rule Book on hand when I was standing inside Mancini Racing's store. I ~thought~ the rules stated they needed to be "stock appearing" oval mufflers. After looking at the rules (after I installed the Turbos) the rules stated they need to be an oval muffler with no mention of stock appearing (i.e. pinched/rolled edges). I could of bought the Ultra Flows. ou: Sidebar: A former buddy of mine had a set of Flowmasters on his 440 Challenger (high 10 second car). He dyno'ed the car on a chassis dyno with the Flowmasters for a base HP reading. They cut off the Flowmasters and installed a pair of DynoMax Ultra Flows. 25 HP gain with no other changes to the tune of the car. Not too shabby!

Tom, how long ago did you order those Accurate mufflers?? I bought the complete system from Accurate in 2000. They (hopefully) have changed the design since I bought mine.
I picked up a solid tenth with that same change. Tommy maybe it only works on 440's with big smoke!:spank: I hope you guys have fun out there. I will be thinking about the Parking Lot Bonanza all weekend???
