JASON, She uses plastic media in this case, the 69 GS was more of a restoration she used sand for that one. Today the Wildcat got it's first layer of fur, acid etching primer, tomorrow will check the spots that need attention and tackle them.
The Wildcat had 2 coats of primer added today to it's fur coat. Now the highs and lows are visble to the naked eye, will start with the sanding and grinding to get the body as even as possible before the coats of U-Pol.
Maybe I can interject here. The stainless trim is held in place by clips. These clips are very hard to find for this year. Believe me I know. I took the trim off and had the gaskets replaced. I lost one clip due to a careless window replacement guy. The window still sits correctly, but the stainless just doesn't sit right. Or so I think. Louie made a good call on this. Especially if his rubber gaskets are good.
Jason, the Sarge is correct, I replaced the windshield once already and had the same problem Sarge just described. The rubber is new, the same reason goes for the back window.
The Queen Mary III 's right side was sanded and prepped, looks very nice and straight. The new fur coats are starting to take shape.
Over the weekend, took the bumper brackets, lights, plate mounts off the bumpers. The rear bumper is in 3 pieces, took that apart also. The grille and surround were also serparated, all ready for the Chromer. :TU:
Got the brackets back from the media blaster today, they look good. The passenger's side was taken care of today as far as rust and metal patches were made and installed
Tuesday, I took the bumpers (front 1 piece - rear 3 pieces), grille surround (3 pieces), 2 headlight bezels, 1 mid hood trim (spear), 4 headlight trims, 2 taillight bezels, 2 front signal light bezels to Sandy's Bumper Mart in Syracuse, NY. The total price was what Belmont Chrome wanted for just the bumpers :blast:
Today started on the driver's side, cutting out the problem areas and making metal patches, installing, welding, grinding, banging them into the contour of the Queen Mary III.
Today the second coat of primer was sprayed and now the Queen Mary III is really straight. Now more sanding with some gel powder to locate the highs and lows :TU:
Today the trunk, hood, B pillars and body was sanded again, the low spots were filled and prepared for another coat of primer tomorrow. :TU:
