Well I got the Holley on and it runs great!! Going racing Sunday! And yes I will get rid of that loop-ta-loop in the fuel line:spank:
Looks much better! You should snag a set of chrome valve covers to finish up the look. I got mine really cheap on ebay and they work and look great... http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/Buic...025QQitemZ380032753342QQrdZ1QQsspagenameZWDVW
Those do look good, but I think I'm going to put on some good condition Buick red valve covers that I have back in my parts stash. I like the contrast:TU:
Your car is coming along great. Those are some great numbers. You should be pleasantly surprised with the new lower ETs you get, provided all the new found power doesn't blow the tires away. Can't wait to here how you run this weekend. All this new development coming along on the 350s is making me consider selling off my BBB stuff and doing a turbo small block. Honestly if these items were available 2 years ago, I'd be running a twin turbo SBB NOW!!!! Good Luck
Question: You say "stock everything" but your signature list a ton mods, is the intake on a stock motor and you also have a second sbb with the mods done on it?
Well, the graph with 100 more HP is obviously my combo today, and the lower graph is the car with stock 2 barrel carb & intake, stock cam, stock style exhaust, no headers
That makes sense. I was just mis-reading it. I'm a little surprised thats all the HP your making. Im guessing that is RWHP. We've got a pretty similiar setup and I was hoping for a little more I guess.
Went to the track today. Ran a best of 14.9. What a disappointment, the car was completely out of tune, it has felt good up until the track. Will visit the chassis dyno again soon.:TU:
Here is what I like to call DYNO RESULTS! Check it out that Torque!! I don't know how to explain the little bit of extra peak power the Q-Jet made, but the 40-50 ft.-lbs. down low sure is worth having that holley. Red = X-Factor w/ Holley Brown = X-Factor w/ Q-Bog (whoops) Blue = Stock w/ Q-Jet
It is sad that people who don't know how to tune a q-jet or the capabilities of that carb can condem them . What carb did 60's and early 70's Super Stock drag cars run ??? Q-JET !
Give me a break!:af: I greatly considered modifying the Q-Jet however it wasn't going to really make the intake live up to its full potential on the bottom end. That lean spot was SOOO ridiculous! It's tune was good mated with the stock intake, and I want the option to revert back. It is also a possibility that it was defective. However, I am happy with the Holley and it is easy to tune. This is the first 350 street car with a single plane intake. Don't condemn my carb selection when this hasn't even been attempted before.
I'm not condemming your carb selection , YOU are condemming the carb without ever tuning it to the combo . Bolt on is not tuning .
Whoa, easy fellas. Mike, you gotta admit, Q-jets are a unique carb that few truly know how to get max potential out of, you of course being one of them!
