I'm only 17, born in 1986. My friend and I both love working with older cars and want to go off to tech school and become mechanics. I never thought you could gain so much respect from somebody you don't know too well just by telling them your in the middle of a resto. project. My buddy and I get countless pat's on the back and support from the "older" guys at the shops and from the dads of our friends. But it's a passion of love, just last weekend i spent four hours pulling out a borg warner 5spd. out of a 4cylinder mustang in 115* sun in a pick in pull, laying on our bare backs in the gravel. Couldn't think of anything better to do on a sunday. I love this stuff. Maybe one day i'll be rebuilding one of your guys' tranny's or motors, who knows. Later on guys. Keep those wrenches turning!

I will be 70 in August, and I am celebrating the day with a family drag race at Mid Michigan Motorplex. The Michigan chapter of the GS CA is allowing me to have my kids all come and try to beat the "Old Guy".I even have a son flying in from Germany to run his 72 GS against me. We have an eight car run off planned. Stay tuned ,and find out who wins!!:beer :beer

    1964 for me. I'm 39 but I act like I'm 18. Too bad I feel like I'm 114. It's not the age but the mileage!!:Dou:

  16. I figured the highest #'s would be in the 40-50 range. I'm a member of the biggest group so far, born in 1960, though I must be aging well, since Jim W thought I was just a spring chicken when we last summer.

interesting that the biggest group is early 40's. i always thought my age group was a little out of touch [ too young for baby boomers, too old for "gen X"] so i grew up listening to 60's music and ended up getting into punk a little too late for the skate board crowd. i can't even claim grunge as an anthem, and now we are the ones with the say in whats cool? i hope its all just in your attitude, because some mornings i feel too old and some nights i act too young for my own good :Dou:
