born in 73. I'm very supprised of the wide range of ages. It doesn't really appear that any one group really dominates to terribly bad.

:bglasses: Rich: I would like to see a full size pic of your car. When I signed up I was looking for a car similar to mine and yours was it. Mine is a 72 Skylark GS clone in process with 455 Stage 1 4 speed. My color is unspellable but it's dark green/blue/looks black in the shade, what color is on yours? Thanks for the info Jake

My first car was older than me, I was born in '54 and my first car was a 1936 Buick model 66 SO Coupe. Wish I still had it! At least I sold it to buy my new '72 GS.

    uh oh!

I was born in 1960 as the youngest of three children to my parents. I really wish I had been born in 1950 as my brother was.

He has/had absolutely no interest in cars of the muscle car era that he grew up in and I of course grew up in in the later part of it but was too young to do anything about it.

I can still remember like it was yesterday what got me interested in buicks. When I was in fourth grade around 1970 or 1971 some one who worked at the convienience store caddy cornered to that portable classroom drove a 70 saturn yellow gsx and I stared at that car all year long. Man how I wanted that car. Here it is thirty some odd years later and I still want that car.:Brow:

    me so young

My car is more than twice my age.

    Me 2003 - 1985 = 18
    Skylark 2003 - 1965 = 38

    18 x 2 = 36

Yup sounds right. I feel so young.

zero car-1988 Chevy 2500 Pickup (it was dads)
    first car- 1975 Monte Carlo
    second car- 1972 Monte Carlo
second and a half car-1986 VW Jetta (never drove it!!!)
third car-1969 Skylark Custom Convertible (Still have It)
fourth car- 1968 Sportwagon 400 (Sold to DCM422)

got my first subscription to car craft in 1987 (8 years old!!!), rode in my fathers couisins 1973 Estate Wagon when I was 3-5 years old and I think that is where the buick thing started!!!

nobody in my family is into cars (how many people are in the same boat I wonder???) but I somehow conned my dad (who hates cars!!!) into helping me tomorrow with dropping an engine into my skylark.

he hates cars, but puts up with me using his house (which I no longer reside in) to store parts, and even my departed sportwagon for 9 months!!! so I guess he supports the hobby in some strange way.

I think there will be people into hondas in 30 years, after all there are people into saving gremlins!!!

There are lots of us youngins into older cars, there are just as many young people into old cars as much are there are older people who aren't.

If we were to use age as a factor in appreciating older cars, everyone who owns, restores, and looks at the tons of pre 1945 that is out there iron would have to be in the 65+ age class. Doesn't look that way to me.

Old stuff is cool, it transpires into other parts of my life also, I seek out 1950's and 1960's furniture, am a professional photographer who uses cameras from the late 1950's, and use "view cameras" for almost all of my work (read-cloth over the head and the smallest film size is 4x5 INCHES). I watch old TV shows, and collect movies from the 1950's-1970's. I guess I am just a weirdo.

    oh well........

Wish I could go back to 1981 and be 21 again. I think I would sell everything I have, buy all the shares of Wal-mart stock I could. Today I would be a retired 42 year old. All I would do is drive my Buick around and wave at all my friends out busten their butts making a living.
