First payment car was a 1965 Impala SS with a (L78) 396/4 speed, 3.73 posi. Mid 14's from the showroom. Not too shabby in 1966!:Brow:

    A '70 GS 455. I still have it but it needs a complete re-do.

Well, I wish it would have been something a little nicer but it was an 87 Ford EXP back in 1993. I had to buy it because my I was rebuilding my 79 Trans Am and fitting it with some serious poncho power. The EXP cost me a whopping $114 a month.

77 1/2 Z28 was first car I bought myself new. $6300 or so. Fully loaded Wht/Tan 5.7L 4spd ac, pdb, am/fm/casette,pw, etc. Ordered personally with every option available. I think I had cruise control on the four speed. Monthly payment was something around $190 for three years plus a trade. Remember interest rates of about 20% in the mid 70s?

I got more tickets in that car than carter has pills. It was pretty fast, and looked like Burt Reynolds car with the air shocks and CB antenna on the trunk. Classic of it's day, long gone now. Traded for a used 80 Corvette in late 81.

The first car I made payments on was a '70 Skylark Custom Conv.. I was 18 at the time. I paid $1500 for it. I found it at an upolstory (sp) shop. It had just had a new interior and top put on it and the owner never picked it up. After bugging the shop owner a few times, he gave me the name and number of the of the guy that owned it. When I called he said he forgot he even had it! Turned out he bought and sold classic conv. for a living and had so many he didn't remember it. Anyway, he met me at the shop and I brought it home. Later we put a 455 in it and painted it black. Definetly a fun car.

1972 GS 350! Back in 86 I found this car after riding in Alan's 70 GS 455. Had to have it even if it was only a 350. I borrowed the $1500 from Mom and Dads bank and then sold my chevy truck to pay this loan off. Still have this car now but have not driven it since Sept. just before Hurricane Isabel hit.

Always hated being in debt. But with this new house I am way deep!

One thing I've learned is you'll always be in debt no matter what, so I've learned to live with it. Once, I'm dead I don't have to worry about it no more :)

The first car I made payments on was an 87 GN that I bought new for only $12,500.00 from Justice Buick. The car had 18 miles on it, but a bent front end, hood and fenders. It was stolen from the dealers front door display and driven up Bloomfield ave 4 miles. Cops chased the people into a tree were they tried to run away.:af: Dont remember if they were caught!! Anyway the car was fixed and I drove it for 4 years. sold it for a profit and bought a new Chevy Tahoe to pull my trailer and racecar.:Dou:

The First Car I ever had to make Payments on was My 71 Mustang Fastback. Borrowed $1500 Dollars from the bank and Paid it off in two years working at the Grocery Store. Luckily for me my next door neighbor sold me his 72 GS 350 for $100, it had been hit in the rear and was pretty rusty. Started my love for GS's when He moved in during the 70's. I had begged my dad for a 70 GS 455 that was for sale a few blocks away but after test driving it he said no Way:ball:

    Oh to be 1985 again:grin:

I've always paid CASH for all of my cars, except for ONE!
My FIRST car was a '71 Skylark 2 door, one owner, 40k miles, for $900.:bglasses: I still have parts of it in my "GSX Display" in my garage.:bglasses:

The first car that I made PAYMENTS on, was my one owner '84 Trans Am, ALSO with 40k miles. After INTEREST, through GMAC, that car cost me $12,000!:af:

I don't make payments anymore, after making THAT mistake, except for my HOUSE payment (and even THAT will be paid off SOON)! If you PAY more INTEREST than what you MAKE, then you're getting RIPPED OFF! So, I've learned to PAY CASH (or even Check or Money Order, but NOT "CREDIT CARDS" or "LOANS", anymore!) for EVERYTHING!:Smarty:

If you "believe" there is NO WAY OUT of DEBT, then you're doing it WRONG!:TU::Smarty: I'm "almost" OUT, for my KID'S SAKE!:bglasses: :Smarty:

Couldn't afford a car payment until the summer of '72. Although I was dying for a '70 Stg 1, the only ones I could find in the Austin area had been ridden hard, and I sure couldn't afford payments and rebuilds. Local Olds dealer found me a '72 Cutlass Supreme 455 in Houston. It was the end of the model year and the 442's and W-30's were gone. With 2:93 road gears, it wasn't a great drag car, but on the highway it was a beast. The speedo peg was about an inch past 120, and I could peg it with plenty of pedal left. Man, did we have a good time in that car- 24 years old, single, draft sales mgr. for the Bud distributor, and living in Austin. Damn shame I had to grow up!

Two couples of us, with all our gear, took the old Olds on a weekend run to New Orleans. Don't remember the actual distance between the city limits of Baton Rouge and New Orleans (65-70 miles?), but I do remember it took almost 31 mimutes and I was pissed it took over 30! Not very smart, but we were livin' large.:Brow:

The very first car I made payments on was a 1970 Chevelle SS 396 4 spd with an L88 427 installed. The payments were made to my father who worked out a deal with my uncle who "had" to sell the car quick. My first official bank payments were made on a 1971 stage1 4spd that Mike G. found for me. Shoulda NEVER sold that car. Ahhh the foolishness of youth.

    Dr Olds Crush that Mustang!!!!

My first "payment" car was the 442 that I use as my Avatar. I paid 1500.00 from the original owner back in 1984. I paid him off in 6 months. Still have it now and it will never go anywhere. Funny thing was the car was advertised in the summer of 1984 for 2000.00 and not one person went and looked at it.

It was a 2 year old 1991 Eagle Talon TSi. I loved that car. I lost my sales job the day before the first payment was due, and ended up having to give it back to the bank. The car ticked over 70k miles while I owned it, so they sold it at auction to try to cover the loan instead of selling it retail. They got a LOT less than I paid for it, leaving me to cover it. Driving that car for just a couple of months cost me close to six grand.

First car I ever paid off was the S-10 I drive every day. :)

First car I had payments on was a 1971 GS Stage1. Sold my Skylark and got a personal loan for 1500.00 with cosign from my Dad in 1983. Sold the 71 in 86 to a nurse who was in Houston taking classes. She came and looked at it. Went back to Indiana then called me and said she wanted never even drove the car until she flew down here and drove it back to Indiana.
