Yeah, thats where my VIN is. Could be a bit of a pain with accessories in place.

Regarding the fuel pump and HD cooling, there was some debate about this a while back in a thread I started regarding a lead for some of the unobtainanium Stage 1 pumps I came across on Ebay. Bottom line is it seems likely that pump was tied to HD cooling as well.

I've got a few '72 455s and they all have the VIN in the location that chiefsb30 posted above.

Thanks guys. Once I get the Sloan docs it should make more sense.

I also hope the pump is good.. only have one left on the shelf.

Loui, all big and small block GS cars received the upper frame stiffener bars standard.
Standard axle on a 1972 GS GS 455 was a 3.08 open axle, so someone changed rear gearing or put entire axle assembly out a plain skylark in your car.
F41 Rally suspension (rear sway bar with boxed lower control arms) was not standard it had to be ordered.

Thanks Rich, that makes more sense. If that’s all that got blown up, I’m a happy man.

We got a numbers matching engine and trans!!

That was my Totaled 70 GS 455 tribute car. I rebuilt and restored it completely. You might remember my ex had it for sale here and on Facebook about two years ago.

I think my 72 GS 455 convertible also had the 2.56 open rear end originally. I bought a 3. XX rear end which was a posi and installed it in the car. My friend that I sold the car to 20 years ago, still has it.

That car is screaming to be gold with a white top again….

Found the grille emblem under the seat, still attached to the grille that broke in the accident!

Got the Sloan Docs in my possession finally. Nothing too crazy jumps out to me.. Invoiced 9/30 for an interesting amount lol. It was a central PA car its entire life. There was a mountjoy dealer tag just sold on ebay 10/19/22. It looks like it came with a 3.08 posi which I will now be sourcing for.

Let me know if you guys see anything of interest worth mentioning, or want more of the doc uploaded. The order form PDF is attached.

EDIT: reuploaded the order form with highlights, PDF was black and white.

A weekend cruiser for sure. I think this car would chug down to BG no problem ;)
