I live maybe 40 minutes from there. It doesn't appear to be a bad deal.

I agree. I think the price is very fair for this car based on what I can see in the photos. Beside being a really rare car (1 of 126 GS455 convertibles) it has some good options too. I see PS, PDB, A/C, rally gauges, rally steering wheel, tilt column, PW, N25 bumper, & sport mirrors. It looks like it took a hit in the front (crumpled passenger side fender and a blue replacement hood) but NOS fenders and a NOS grille are included. I'm posting these photos for anyone that doesn't have access to Facebook

My dad bought it. I messaged the guys a few minutes before this thread was posted.

Last on the road in 1989, buying it from the father’s estate. He passed away about 10 years ago and they are ready to move on. They think he was the 4th owner, purchased in 1975. The guy I’ve been speaking with said his sister in law was driving it when someone pulled out in front of her and she didn’t have enough time to stop. I’ll get the car home in a few weeks and document the rebuild. If the paint cleans up, we will just single stage a front clip and drive as is. I think the interior will clean up well and we should have a decent front bumper for it. It was originally a white top car, but the father hated cleaning it so often so he put a black top on in the late 80s. Titled in PA in October 1971, and seems to have a lower number on the cowl tag. He said it’s completely numbers matching but couldn’t confirm the carb distributor etc. I’d like to preserve it to original as possible.

Awesome. Glad to see it go to someone here on the board that will do something with it rather than just flip it for a quick buck. I'm looking forward to seeing the progress. It's an early car (09D) so it will not have the annoying "Fasten Seat Belt" buzzer. It would look really good with a white top back on it.

Good deal. I would have jumped on it before posting if I needed one. Great car and glad it will get attention it deserves. Good luck with progress.

Got eyes on the car today and finalized the deal. Hoping to have it back home next Sunday.

It’s not quite the gem it appears to be in the pics (aren’t they all?), but it should clean up really nice for a driver. It’s got bumps and bruises throughout. It had quarter patches done at some point. The passenger side has exposed rivets at the pinch weld, but the paint work is nice. The doors have had some touch up done. The trunk lid is original paint. Interior is really nice- it has a power trunk release but I don’t think it’s factory. It also has a power seat. Dash pad is perfect, black top is really nice. The fenders can be saved but we will probably use the NOS. NOS grille is cool. It comes with 2 nice core supports and a 70 front bumper. Needs exhaust, horn button. 72 hood scoops and seal plates, 72 cross bars, a front bumper (I have a core), headlight bezels (have 1 NOS). It has 1 original WM wheel that was the spare. The 4 on the car are 14s. Also weird that is doesn’t have a disc brake by Buick pedal, but does have discs. I couldn’t read the numbers, but at 62K I believe it to have its original engine and trans. It has some rust in the wheel houses and will need an inner fender patch, but the rest of the car is solid. Frame has surface rust, but floors are pristine. I’ll post more pics when I get the car home.

Thanks Rich, I ordered the docs from Sloan for my dad to figure out the full story. We should have them early next week and the car in our possession next Sunday.

Got it today. it will make a good 10 footer when done. I’ll post more when I get the docs. It does have a 72 carb and WF block, so I’m hopeful it’s the original engine. I’ll get the vin off it to confirm, along with the trans and rear code. Did a quick pass on the trunk with the buffer as well. First step is to get it running. It surprisingly has functioning brakes, but we will get a new master on it before trying to move it under its own power.

I disassembled the carb to begin the rebuild and started diving into the numbers today. Crawled under the car to find an LK coded 2.56 open rear. It has rear frame stiffeners that would be included in the F41 package, but no sway bar or boxed lowers. Is that standard on a convertible?

It’s a numbers matching trans. The vin wasn’t stamped on the left bank of the engine, so tomorrow I’m going to try and uncover it near the oil pressure sending unit. I did confirm the WF code, and it has an early 72 block casting date. It’s has a 55 amp 1102448 alternator and a stage 1 fuel pump with correct pump to carb line. I know the alternator was standard with AC or HD cooling, but did either of those include a stage 1 fuel pump in 72 or should I assume someone added it later.
