Some other cars. I don't think I took as many pics this year nor could I begin to post all of them if I had or even begin to post just the "notable exceptions." Corvette pictured (so many notable ones there) is an original owner car. The main display of "winged warriors" was amazing plus the rest that were there. Must've been 30-40 of 'em in total ranging from unrestored/in need to super original survivors to fully restored to original race cars and factory one-offs. The "barn finds" & "vintage certification" are incredible displays in and of themselves. The square footage this year was larger (unless I didn't notice last year). Not sure on the car count.
The only year for a SS wagon One of the two Superbirds from the Hurricane. I think I was (too) cautious about running out of time this year. Visited @oldschool85 first thing in the morning when I got in & so got to the show a little later than normal. I do this show in one (long) day which is doable if you can get direct flights to O'Hare (or even Midway). The show is a couple blocks from the 1st train stop out of O'Hare and about an hour IIRC (only done it once) train ride from Midway. There's no need to stay overnight unless you can't get the flights or want to. I can't justify the time/expense personally unless I had to & even then is worth the trip. I guess 2 days at the show would be nice if you talked to a lot more owners or fellow Buick Friends. Of course the people make the event! This year the flights were a bit more expensive but in past years I can do the whole thing (flights, parking, food, show entrance, ground transportation, etc.) for around $200-250. Prob. closer to $350+ this year incl. taking a cab from O'Hare to Richard's.
Quite a few Beaumonts there which is always neat to see including a rare special dealer prepped hi-po "Cheetah"
Dano- glad you had a good time!!! Frank- ctauto- huge THANK YOU for showing the car with the top DOWN! Been to too many judged events and shows where the frame off ragtop have always had the tops UP! Thank you sir!!!
Dano, thanks for the great camera work and commentary on the cars. Next best thing to being there, which I will be next year. My niece got married yesterday or I would not have missed the show. My daughter lives in Logan Park quite close to Rosemont, so if you want to make your next year’s trip an overnighter, we’ve got the room.
My Son and I had a great time, met everyone from the V8 board that was there, learned a lot and made it safely back home despite a near deer collision in Iowa at 3am, locked up the brakes and only casualty was this, luckily it only bent the dipstick tube…… Thanks Ajesh for the invite! See everyone next year for sure for the 1973 display!
