Bucket seats were only available in white for the '73 GS so I wonder if the car was originally a black bench seat car that had buckets added or was it a white bucket seat interior originally and converted to black? A white bucket seat interior would look great in a black car.

other colors than white were available. they were special ordered. back in the 70's, at work, guy rolls in with a brown 73 gs 350.
it had brown bucket seats/interior. he said he special ordered it.

Cool car! Looks like the seats were dyed black.

Thats Phil's old car, and it's had black seats in it for the last 10 years anyway, probably longer but clearly the entire interior is dyed. . I'm surprised the current owner is selling cause he was head over heals in love with the car.. And it's nice to know my car is one of 9, not sure how he came up with that? Anyway, the car was never a huge rot box, here's a pic from when it was doing daily driver duty in the greater NYC area in 2013:

That is a pretty car and desirable to me at least. If the price were about 15k lower, I'd be considering it.

Nice car ! I think everybody knows I’m partial to black cars, sorry if I offend somebody, but why in the hell would you change the color from white to black interior with a black car?

Car was originally gold in color with white buckets. Prior owner to Phil painted it black & dyed the interior. Car was a rot box! Drove real good though. Had a Scotty PG motor in it & ran sweet

Gold with the white still a great color combination no matter the body style.

Okay, please allow me to restate my point a little more clearly. There were 468 '73 Stage 1 cars built with bucket seats and they were all white. No special bucket seats were ordered in the '73 Stage 1s.

Ha Ha! I should have known that it was Phil's car at some point. :) He is definitely Mr. '73!

Good looking car. It loses appeal for its rarity when everything gets changed. The top for an original 73 stage 1 4 speed car I’ve seen is 52k in 2020 mecum iirc. If it was a black correct car the sky is the limit these days

It's feast or famine with the 73/74. Either you can't give them away or it has a stick and the stage 1 and you need to take out a 2nd mortgage. Sort of the same for stepchilds too though.

No sticks in 74 and only 478 stage 1’s that year.

If the "stepchildren" is already taken, would this make the '73s / '74s red-headed children or black sheep? o_O

I saw that car for sale at MCACN show in 2019, Woody Boucher was the owner. He wanted 25k. I called Phil R to verify the car was real. Phil told me the story of him owning it, and said don’t buy it … total rot box. I heeded his warning …. He seems to know where every 73 four speed is. The ad says the owner has 60k into so maybe he fixed everything?

i saw the 73 gs 350 with brown guts up close and personal. wasn't a dye job in the early 70's.
don't care what gm paperwork says. its wrong.
i still have my 16k 73 stg1 4spd that will be crushed this year. that should make the rest more costly. lol

And I think the current owner means he Payed $40,000 for it and threw another $20,000 at it and now doesn’t want it, which tells me it’s pig with lipstick.
