So we have, “never was a huge rot box” and “was a rot box but drove nice.” Maybe either of you can expand on your definition of a rot box. Maybe Phil can chime in with the exact details on where it needed attention, and if it got proper attention. All restorations need something, if it’s done right, it’s good to go

Yeah I think the 73-74 do need their own "step" category for sure! Ignored and misunderstood! :D I always gravitate towards that genre. :D

For a lot less, I can put somebody in this, Sloan documented, correct color combo, 70k miles, and no controversy.

    No, auto.
Full load car, built with Stage1 valves, old B4B Intake, new everyday performance Qjet, Mickey Thompson super scavenger headers, low 13's at 4400lbs, and drives like a caddy on 93 octane

I've been thinking about this all day. What about Malaise something. Like 'Malaise-child'. Or just 'The Malaise'.

Not crazy about Misfits as it implies there is something wrong with the car.

I have a friend that has a 73 GTO that restored and he got vanity plates for it that says “OUTCAST” . Seems very fitting for the colanade cars

I got a hold of the guy. Yes, the price is high but you never know what can happen if you talk to someone. We chatted a bit, nice guy. He's the guy who bought it in Mecum. He is aware that his asking price is way high. He said he wasn't willing to come down much at the moment. Seems he is starting to think about selling it but has not committed fully to doing so, unless he can get the high price. He still likes the car but doesn't drive it that often. Why sell? He mentioned being 70 and having some health problems developing. He did spend a bit of money getting the car sorted out. Basically what was mentioned in the ad, which couldn't have been cheap.

IMO , regardless or what he spent fixing it, he paid too much at Mecum IMO and probably hopes to recoup his money. He’s in too deep for that.

As always : Price it to sell it, or Price it to keep it.

Goes without saying, Phil would know better, it was his car. And so would the Csordas's, they worked on it. At the time I saw it, there was obviously a fair amount of work done to the roof but overall it didnt look bad pre-paint.. Maybe I'm a lot more tolerant of rust than some?

I believe the guy told me he paid $35 k? At least he said he knew the seller was looking to get 25k for it and he wound up paying 10k more than that.

Found the amount on Mecum. $31.9k. Not sure if that amount includes taxes and fees. Probably not.

$35,500 total before shipping And taxes….. and then claims another $25,000 he gave somebody to “fix “ things and still the tach and radio don’t work? The car should be a museum piece for that kinda money. Sounds super fishy or this guy is a huge sucker with money to burn.

Sounded like the guy got super excited about the car at Mecum and had to have it. Which I don't really have a problem with as long as one accepts consequences for that. Like don't be upset if you decide to sell and nobody wants to spend the same money you did when you bought it.

Roof tar in trunk, inner rear wheel wells newspaper and tar and whole undercarriage chassis coated in tar. Good driver. Nothing in it is #’s matching. 2k repaint 10 years ago by a good friend. Was cracking around windows again two years later. Lots of bondo and fiberglass. Buyer beware. He did not restore it. Basically exactly the same as when he bought it. He did put a 5 speed in.

So is this black car the same '73 Stage 1 4-speed that formerly owned by Jimmy Jackson in Tennessee back in the 90s? I seem to remember that it was not an original black car and it had been swapped to non-original black bucket seats.
