Anyone have the correct style shifter for a 70-72 GS? I talked to a guy that is in the process of reproducing them (with and without the clip) but he gave no date. I'm looking for one to bolt in to replace the incorrect one I have now, AL.

Okay, wise guy, let's see it!!!

I'd suggest looking on e-bay....lots of shifters ther, usually without application info. If you know the Hurst PN, that'll help alot.
Are you looking for an aftermarket Hust shifter offered in the 70-80's, or did it come with one from GM?

    Coming to Yardley's?

The shifter is also different if you have a bench seat.

Chris, I think there is only one type shifter for bench or bucket. I will ask the 4-Speed specialist (Scott Miller), :Smarty: AL.

    Yes I Do.........

    Al,

Try Tim Mishlan.........740-732-5579. He probably has a few of them in stock. He repairs/refinishes All types of shifters. He also has SEVERAL GS project cars for parts or to restore.

    Give this a try.....

    Al,

Pete Serio (click here for his website and then click on "shifter gallery") rebuilt my shifter last year and I HIGHLY recommend him.

He's very easy to work with, returns both phone calls AND emails ( :TU: ) and his pricing is very, VERY fair.

He's been doing this for a long time and I'm almost positive he'd have the correct shifter you're looking for, as he's been collecting them for years...

    Keep me posted.... :Brow:

    You're welcome!

I've been working my butt of the last few months. I work 3-11 shift so it's tough for me to hang out here on a regular basis unless it's one of my days off, like today. Since my hours are so crappy (my whole day is basically wasted), I try to take as much overtime as I can.

I'll be back (more frequently on the board) @ the end of this month, once my schedule is back to normal.

As for your shifter search, Pete does top notch work with a lightning fast turnaround..... :Brow:

The 68-72 Hurst made stick for the Buick has the number 5335 engraved on the butt of the stick and is hidden when inserted into the mechanism.

Jim, thanks for the info :beer Did you see the picture I posted earlier on this thread? AL.

Yea. If I have time I will post a verified real one so you can see where the number is located. Sometimes the stick curve differences are so subtle that a pic will not tell all you need to know. Unless altered the number is definitive. It is a Hurst number.
