I'm going to be installing a tach very soon. I would like to see pics of various setups. I dont want to put holes in my dash. I would prefer to use the local auto parts store for my source. They have a nice 2" tach in stock for 50 bucks. Also might me need installation tips. Thanks a bunch.

Pretty sure I've done the bezel removal before on my previous 71. But I will follow the thread you linked up. I'm familiar with modifying a dash to fit aftermarket gauges. Just did it last year on my 85 k20 mud truck. I honestly didn't even think about doing this to the Skylark because I want to keep it a stock as possible on the interior but yours looks so good. it's definitely the route I'm going to go. I have like 30 gauges in my wishlist on the summit website and I'm going to compare each one to my existing gauges and go with one that looks the most like Factory. 20210102_105259.jpg 20210102_105334.jpg

I do not remember pulling the dash pad. So maybe I never did the bezel. How long does this project take? I have a flawless dash pad....would hate to damage it.

I recently pulled my dash to install LED bulbs. I also replaced that Autometer tachometer with a stock one with improved electronics and accuracy. I took about 3 hours from start to finish.

I got a reproduction tach, in dash . A little hard to see but you can see it. Can go in from rear, you need fit lens as it’s not a great alignment. But uses the stock lens

A 2" tach would be like looking at your oil pressure guage. Get a 3-3/8" from Summit, put it in the clock provision spot in dash.
Maybe Larry will sell you the one he just removed?:)

the tach read "0" not 7 grand the motor must be broke :p

A assembly manual will show all the bolts so you can take the dash apart, it is not too bad to do. There are nuts that hold in dash pad then clips hold the rest. one above glove.

I put my tach on the steering column with 2 hoseclamps might be able to do with one 4" one

B-Body car, obviously, so not an 'apple'.
Still in progress: '40s headlight bucket, repeatedly cut down, 3 3/8-in vintage SW tach. only going to peek up partially like shown.
I finished fabbing a 3-gauge panel with an aluminum plate that fits inside a tissue dispenser I made hinged, to hang below the dash. Going to make the same stamped AL plate around the tach.
