Does anyone mod their driveshafts?

    what rear and trans? you can use later car ds in your car if you want to be on a budget.

    isnt a 70 a 1 piece? just need one from that or a 8.2 chevelle when they went 1 piece and had th350s.

    Ha... you go into a driveshaft shop with your old shaft, an ask them to use the current weld yokes and just replace the tube... they are going to look at you like you have a horn growing out of the middle of your forehead.. New tube, new weld yokes... ALWAYS. You will spend more money having the old tube cut off, and the old weld yoke cleaned and prepped for use, than a new one costs.. Add a fresh trans yoke to the package, and now you have accomplished something.

    Over 500 HP, or anything that will wear drag slicks will benefit from upgraded u joint size.. but for stockers or drivers, the Mechanics 3r size joints our Buicks used from the factory are just fine.

    I had a driveshaft fail in the traps at 115mph.. not something yo want to experience... Shaft broke right in the middle.. front half went thru the RR slick, rear half beat the living daylights out of the floor pan before it broke the rear end yoke and slid into the weeds.
