Bough a pair 295/50-15 from Priority tire. One tire was shaking right away (50 miles) so took in to spin on machine. Thought maybe bent wheel. Wheel spins true but tire had a hop and a sideways movement. Re-mounted 180deg....same deal. Was on back of truck and shaking badly. Contacted for warranty claim and they wanted pictures, video and statement from tire shop. Provided all that and a month later they sent me a return label and I sent the tire back for "evaluation" by warranty department. Now another month later customer "service" says they will let me know when they hear from warranty dept. I contact them weekly and get same response. Losing my patience...... Just send me another tire so I can use my truck! Any advice?
Not good. I recently bought a set of Firestone Transforce tires for my truck and it shakes on the freeway.
I've had some tire troubles lately too. My Mustang takes Goodyear Eagle F1 z rated tires- staggered- I had trouble finding them last year, so gave the problem to my friendly Ford dealer (is it a problem when I'm on a first name basis with the whole service dept?). They went through 5 tires to find 2 that were not oblong. Old stock I guess. My truck got a puncture from a nail and the new tire Hankook shakes. Wears one out.
Last set of 'stones 3 of 4 wouldn't pass road force balancing. They shipped 3 right away to repair place. 2 of them barely passed. Was trying not to buy China tires but it seems Mexico may be worse. All I want are round tires.....is that too much to ask for?
I think I told this story on a different thread, but I asked my tire guy for a USA made tire, and he told me "The only tire I have in store I can guarantee is made in the US is a Yokohama." Strange world.
Doubtful.....I have 2 cars with Yokos and not made in US. I think General, Cooper, Hercules and Kelley are last remaining.
Yokohama says "A big part of our 2,100 employee-strong workforce in the USA comes from our research and development center in Cornelius, North Carolina, and manufacturing plants in Salem, Virginia and West Point, Mississippi. Together, they produce millions of tires annually for both our consumer and commercial divisions." I personally have no knowledge one way or the other...
I've been buying michelins lately for the daily drivers. They seem to be worth the money. Zero issues and they actually come close to meeting the mileage specs.. I gave up on Firestone tires 10 years ago. My diesel would need a new set every other year.
Bought a set of those Firehawk Indys about 10 years ago. One of the 275/60/15 rear tires took a few POUNDS of lead to make the balancer happy. (See picture) Didn't notice at the time of install, but a few months later, when I pulled them to swap on the winter wheels I did and I went straight to Firestone. The manager said it must be my wheel because the problem didn't get better when they rotated the tire 180 deg. I challenged him to put my old Nitto drag radial back on (which I brought) and see what happened. Short version is we came to an agreement that I was satisfied with but they lost me as a customer.
I like the BFGs on my Buick. Never a problem with balance or flat spots even when parked 4 or 5 months at a time. Oh, they are about 12 years old now. I should probably replace them but they only have 15000 miles on them.
Michelin no longer makes tires in the 16.5" size that my truck takes. I bought the Firestone Transforce tires about 7 years ago because of that. I'm going to go back to the tire store that sold me these tires (I went there because of the rude behavior at the Firestone store, last time I went). I hope that I get a good result. The Michelins I used to buy were made in Canada, last I saw.
I contacted Bridgestone/Firestone and they said to contact Priority Tire....I said I did. This was their response: "Priority Tire is an independent dealer which is privately owned and operated. The only affiliation that they have with us is that they can sell our products. I apologize for any inconveniences regarding this issue."
I remember buying a new car that had Firestones. They were garbage. Putting on better tires made it feel like a different car. Night and day handling wise.
