    Hey Guys Awesome Pics!:beer

I have some i need to post. In Cleveland, Ronnie Heitman owns the original 57 yellow Chevy used in Hollywood Nights, the original Munsters Coach and Dragula and has a few other ones as well. I have pics i just need to have someone find them for me since im 1200 miles south of where i live. I also have pics of the dealership where they filmed Gone in 60 Seconds (the original) b/c my stepfathers friend worked their in the mid 80s ill try and post some of those as well. Speed Channel or History Channel did a special on H.B Hialecki? the guy who produced that movie and did all the stunts, bad a$$ man for sure!

    Later!:puzzled:

    Ken,

The Mach 5 IS a REAL CAR!:TU: I have the auction from Ebay where it was sold for $130,000. It cost over $600,000 to BUILD, after all the licensing from the cartoon companies. The car has ALL the FUNCTIONING gadgets, including the air jacks, retractable saw blades, periscope (behind driver's seat), and even a Remote Controlled Homing Pigeon that comes out of the Hood!:bglasses:
It was "radared" at 135mph in 3rd gear, and still had some left. Powered by a Chevy 327, Midengine/Transaxle!:bglasses:
It is NOT a "VETTE" as some would argue! The REAL Mach 5 is a totally ONE of a kind! There are "Collector" edition Vettes that will be made AS Mach 5's, but they are not even close to THE (REAL) Mach 5!:TU::Smarty:

Between the Mach 5 and the Batmobile, I can't decide.:Do No:
OK, I'll take them BOTH! :bglasses: :TU:

And "Two Lane Blacktop". The studio used the same car.

DOes anyone know what car the one in "the Car" was based on? Looks like an old mercedes or something to me from the grille.

It's a George Barris Custom. If you don't know who George Barris is, he built:
    The Batmobile
    The Munsters Coach/Dragula
    K.I.T.T. (Knight Rider)

    and many others.

The Car, from the Movie, is a customized Mercury or Ford something, I don't actually remember what model, but I know that it IS a Mercury or a Ford.

There's a good book out called "Barris Kustoms", and it features a LOT of the cars mentioned here, and tells in detail, what the cars used ARE. (The Batmobile started out as a '59 Lincoln Futura Prototype, for example. It was a $250,000 Show Car, only used for Auto Shows, was stored in a warehouse after it was done being shown, and George Barris bought it for ONE DOLLAR!:jd: The rest is history.:Smarty: :TU:

Barris also built the General Lee according to what they said when he was on Monster Garage the other night.

Where can I see that movie "THE CAR"?? Haven't seen it since I was little.

    Wonder if it's a Blockbuster??

Scott, that is very cool. Musta been a real fan with plenty of coin in his/her pocket to build that one! 70 GSCONVERT posted a link to pics of it somewhere above.

Those retractable saw blades would sure come in handy sometimes... :Brow:

Yeah, I'm a big Barris fan. Didn't know that that was one of his, tho. It's interesting that it was a ford or mercury. Sure doesn't look much like one now, does it!

Sci-Fi channel recently aired it. Plus Summit racing has car movies including "The Car". BTW I'm 99% sure "The Car" was based on a Lincoln Continental.
