Au contraire, mon frere: I find "Measure once, cut twice" more applicable to my skill level.

Measure for a piece of trim, cut it with a little stock, trim / cut again so it actually fits. That's how I do everything.

Measure twice cut once = whole pile of wasted wood in my wake.

    Tends to lead to:

"I don't understand it -- I trimmed it twice and it's still too short."

Do the absolute best job you possibly can every time, regardless of the task or who may be watching.

Never fear making a split second decision.

Don't waste your time being among negative people when you're a positive person.

Try to learn something new each day. There's always other persons more qualified/better at the job/smarter than you/faster at creating solutions/eager to learn/etc., etc./than you. Strive to attain their level.

You don't know it all, nor are you always "right". Humility is a great teacher when you pay attention.

    Nobody's perfect.

Plenty of good advice so far.

Back in the 80's at my new job at the time I was introduced to the general manager, he had a MARSHMELLOW handshake, I later found out he was at a local bar one night and pulled his dick out in front of some women:rolleyes::rolleyes:
    Good character huh:rolleyes:

    Here ya go !

    1) Keep your friends close & your enemy's closer.

    2) My Dad always said he had enough friends to keep his eyes on.

    3) There are 2 kinds of people out there. Those that know me & those that want to know me. LOL !!!!!

    4) If I could buy an arrogant person for what they were worth & sell them for what they thought they were worth I would be a rich man.

The person who says it can't be done, should never interrupt the person doing it.

Raced motorcycles well into my adult life. Dad was a big a part of that. He had 3 things he still says today.
    1. If you are going to be stupid then you better be tough.
    2. If you can't fix it then you can't ride. Bought me a tool box at 10 years old.
    3. Are you hurt or Are you injured? Injured we had to tell mom, if not, then you are just hurt - shut up and get back on the bike.

Another thing my Dad used to tell me was that when you are at work, you are being paid to work. Your boss is trusting you, so be fair to him. I always lived by this rule, to the point of getting in trouble with co-workers for completing networks too fast.

Be more concerned with your character than your reputation, because your character is what you really are, while your reputation is merely what others think you are.
Discipline yourself, and others won’t need to.
Failing to prepare is preparing to fail.
    Never mistake activity for achievement.
Success is peace of mind, which is a direct result of self-satisfaction in knowing you made the effort to become the best of which you are capable.
Talent is God given. Be humble. Fame is man-given. Be grateful. Conceit is self-given. Be careful.
Don’t measure yourself by what you have accomplished, but by what you should have accomplished with your ability.
It takes time to create excellence. If it could be done quickly, more people would do it.
You will find that success and attention to details, the smallest details, usually go hand in hand.
Although there is no progress without change, not all change is progress.
You can’t live a perfect day without doing something for someone who will never be able to repay you.
The true test of a man’s character is what he does when no one is watching.
    Happiness begins where selfishness ends.
Consider the rights of others before your own feelings, and the feelings of others before your own rights.
Don’t let making a living prevent you from making a life.
Do not let what you cannot do interfere with what you can do.
Perform at your best when your best is required. Your best is required each day.
Learn as if you were going to live forever, and live as if you were going to die tomorrow.
If you’re not making mistakes then you’re not doing anything. I’m positive that a doer makes mistakes.
Be true to yourself. Make each day a masterpiece. Help others. Drink deeply from good books. Make friendship a fine art. Build a shelter against a rainy day.
You can never make up for a lost day… Don’t think you can make up for it by working twice as hard tomorrow. If you have it within your power to work twice as hard, why aren’t you doing it now?
A strong leader accepts blame and gives the credit. A weak leader gives blame and accepts the credit.
Make a decision! Failure to act is often the biggest failure of all.
Don’t give up on your dreams, or your dreams will give up on you.

If you never screw up, your NOT learning.
Its like never having a flat tire, then one day, BOOOOOM, "oh crap, how do I change it"

Decades ago I saw a sign hung by the punchclock at Lammert's Buick - Cadillac in Niagara Falls, NY that said "If you will steal for me, you will steal from me." Signed by the owner.
