Sunday evening Jim. I bought tickets a few weeks ago...double date with couple next door. Let us know how you liked it.

If there is a female lead role it will be tough to do better than Kelly McGillis, call sign "Charlie", lol.

    Good thread and reply btw.

Real planes - no CGI stuff. Navy provided the F/A-18 Super Hornets for the new “Top Gun” movie. They paid as much as $11,374 an hour to use the fighters! Waiting for the iMax version!

I have no interest in supporting Hollyweird and their junk programming.

Which affects them not one bit, but eliminates your possibility of being entertained for a few hours.. taking a break from the real/perceived troubles in this world is good for your mental health.. and nothing is better than a good movie, on the big screen, to do that.

Thanks for the reminder, need to go and book my tickets for the 9pm show tonight, before they are all sold out..

Go google Kelly Mcgillis and you will find out why she was not cast for the role this time around... let's just say the years have not been kind to her..:eek:

She is replaced by " Penny Benjamin, who was alluded to in the first movie " one high speed pass over an admiral's daughter".. unless I am mistaken.. will be interesting to see how they handle the age difference.. one would assume she was near the age of Maverick and Goose when the did that 30 years ago.. say maybe 20.. from the previews, the actress they have playing her does not appear to be 50 years old..

Penny Benjamin is played by Jennifer Connelly, 51.

I see.. maybe I was looking at the wrong picture.. She is a well preserved 51 if that was the right photo I saw.

Ticket booked and ready to go tonight to the 9:05 show.. This will be the second movie I had seen in the theater since the pandemic.. last one was the latest James Bond, 2021's No Time to Die.. and I was the only person in the theater.. One of those big multi screen houses in the Twin Cities.. granted, it was a Tuesday night or something, and the movie had been out a few weeks, but that entire theater was empty.. I saw only one guy that was working there, the whole time I was there.

I'll see it but probably not this weekend. GF and I go out weekly for dinner and a movie. The closest theater is 25 miles away but it pretty old and dated. Valdosta and Gainesville both have several nice modern theaters with the plush reclining seats and a popcorn bar. I also dont really give a rats azz about the actors polictical beliefs. Id read that Cruise did much of the flying himself. Probably owns a jet.

Umm, yes. It has Jennifer Connelly in it ;). I really want to see it at IMAX though.

I'll pass on this one. I did see the first one, which is why I'll not torture myself again. Tom played Maverick as he was supposed to, but in the real world, Maverick would have gotten the s-it beaten out of him and transferred to a tire processing warehouse in Greenland. No way would his fellow pilots and CO's put up with that arrogant ass. I realize that Mohammed Ali famously said "It ain't braggin' if you can do it" but after a point, no matter how good you are, ya gotta go. Even Maria Callas, one of the greatest Sopranos in the world, was kicked out of New York's Metropolitan Opera for being such a PIA.

I've never seen the original but Hot Shots is a parody of it and one of my favorites.

Not really interested, but I’m glad that people that need to show off their surround sound system finally have a new movie.

John, It's a movie. Try to focus on the story, sound, acting and the panorama of the big screen and less on the accuracy of the plot. I actually enjoy finding the inaccuracies of movies I go to. Top Gun is great in most respects IMO.

Yeah, stupid plot holes and unrealistic portrayals bother me too. That's why I strictly stick to Marvel films.
