They won’t come down that’s TRUE!
Things WONT get better, we just get conditioned to higher prices, just like fuel prices, gas goes to 5.00 a gal, we get pissed, then drops slooooowly to 3.50 a gal, we feel all fuzzy “wow it’s cheap again” when it rose to 3.50 a gal, back when, we were pissed, we loose sight of what’s fair and affordable.
Back in the mid 90’s I told a coworker “They should raise the price to 1.50 a gal. And leave it there!
At the time gas was around .99 a gallon, IIRC, at the marinas it was 1.50 a gallon, BOATERS were PISSED!

Moderating is a Thankless Job. I take issue with your comment that moderating ruined V8buick. The troublemakers are an EXTREME minority here. Anybody that can't abide by the rules here, who wants to take their toys and go home, are "cutting their nose to spite their face" AFAIAC. I think Jim Weise's remarks in the linked thread below are just as true today as they were back then. The thread originated right before I became a Moderator.

Couldn't agree more with you Larry.

I've only been on this forum for 3 years now and 99% of the members on here have been super to work with and I can't tell you how many have helped me with my Buick. Has made my life on my Buick much easier to work on.
This is an Awesome site. Keep it going V8Buick, you're the best forum, thanks to JW for working his ass off for us. VET (Navy)

Please note that no one got "run off" -- they just couldn't abide by simple, clear, easy-to-follow rules of civil discourse and got bent out of shape that their posts were deleted -- they wanted to be able to say whatever they wanted to whenever they wanted to and couldn't deal with being told they couldn't.

Not sure why anyone would hang around on a site that had been ruined anyway, but that is your prerogative, just as jumping ship was for the headstrong types who couldn't handle some pretty reasonable levels of moderation. Maybe one day they will grow up and return, and they would most certainly be welcomed back.

Vet - its easy to check prices on ebay. You can select the "sold" view and see what things actually sold for. Maybe you can't find really rare stuff on ebay, so just google it and see if anything comes up.

I 100% feel you on that. I see some of the ungodly prices being charged for stuff that makes me shake my head. Don't get me wrong, people can ask whatever they want. It doesn't mean that I have to applaud what they are doing and I answer by not buying. I have sold everything I have ever posted on here, minus a couple bumper brackets. I've never charged anything I wouldn't be willing to pay myself. And the sales have been quick and easy and helped a fellow enthusiast. If we complain the hobby is dying, then charging hundred's of dollars for a $75 part probably ain't going to help. But, the flip side of that is the part is worth whatever someone will pay for it.

That right there is a very nice feature about e-bay. No such luck on craigslist or offerup or almost anywhere else.

    Really?
How many of the mods have you actually met in person? You'd be hard pressed to find any more fair than those I have and the leeway they often give. As Larry said, it's a thankless job.

    Great idea you have.
    I'll do that.
The one Buick product i'am currently looking for is a factory rear spoiler.
Hard to find and not knowing
What is a fair price to pay for a good conditioned spoiler. VET

The new small block Chevy part are now what Buick parts were about 5 years ago. I agree with Hugger we have been slammed by high prices everywhere.
Gouging? I wonder how much anyone would be willing to pay for a good looking 1970 GS hood, a grand, 2 grand? at what point does this get to be gouging at 3 grand? 5?
I bet there would be a buyer for a hood for 5 grand if they wanted an original style GS hood that you can't get anywhere else.
    Would anyone pay that?

I was referring to used parts prices. New parts from businesses won't do anything but go up.

In my 1998 Poston Buick parts book they were $239.00 brand new part #PE1009 Too bad they are out of business.
So if today if you can get it for $500.00 would that be too much if you cannot buy it from a manufacture?

Good hoods are fair at $1000-1200, $2000 is gouging for sure. And whomever would pay $5000 then send him my way I got tons of parts I’ll sell him at crazy prices!

I got lucky, I need a 1970 Skylark trunk lid and I found an aftermarket one on Summit for $269.99.

It's an Auto Metal Direct Trunk Lids brand.
Guess I'll find out if it fits as advertised. VET

Larry is the only moderator I’ve met in person, the first time was at the final BPG meet in Norwalk, I gotta say, he impressed me with his personality and graciousness, he walked up to me, “Mark Demko” hand out, smile on his face, introduced himself “Larry” with his New York accent, he immediately took me around and introduced me to some of the other guys “THIS is Mark Demko!” I kinda chuckled when they’d say “Who’s he?”
Second meeting was the first Buick Bash at Quaker.
I can’t say enough nice things about Larry, he’s a heck of a human being:D

Is your original decklid rotted out?
Aftermarket sheet metal is a crapshoot as far as fit, hopefully yours fits.

I was at that meet, but brought my Legendary Lime 2005 Mustang GT convertible. Perhaps Larry avoided introducing us in case I'd drag you to that side. :D:D:D:D

Pardon me but isn't this your complaint? I think this is pretty much how most people would respond that sell parts.
