Just wondering hows the "new block" comming??? Anyone got one yet, and/or did the foundry problem get sorted out???? Michael
I read Jon Kaase was considering a Buick build up for the Popular Hotrodding engine masters challenge, but backed out when he found out there is no after market block. o No:

Guys, Not sure I am the one that should be here saying anything but...... I talked to JB some about this when I was at his shop last week. The blocks will happen, and there IS a reason for the delay. Jim feels he isn't in a position to say/tell that reason. And I will not say either, so as not to jeopardize(sp) the trust Jim has in me personally. Only that I agree with his decision not to speak about this, as he is a middle man, like several others. I hope yall can be a bit more patient with this, and understand your being upset. I know if I were waiting on one I would be upset too. We have waited this long, no sense in stewing on it now I don't think. When it's ready to go, they'll ship. And the Buick racing world will be better for it.
Big DEAL!!! You would think as big of a deal this is for Buick guys and all the money that is in it and the time they have in it, you would think they would make a "sticky" in one of the forums that keeps everyone up to date with all the good and/or bad that is happeneing with the d#$@ thing. At least we wouldn't be in limbo. I would like see a thread that is taken care of by whoever knows the most about this deal so everyone one else would stop wondering if this thing is ever going to surface. We have all see the block one way or another but that was almost so long ago that I forgot it happened. I know we all keep being told that there is "allot going on behind the senes that we don't know about" but after a COUPLE OF YEARS, you can't just use that for an excuse anymore...... I would like to know a little more. Doesn't have to be in great detail but something........It would be a courtsy to all who have invested. I know there is plenty that would stay off the phone a whole lot more if there was a info thread that they could stay up to date on. I would like to know how much phone time this has cause the people involve over just the delay of it. I know my time ain't free...... o No: It's time for my "INVESTMENT" to at least be worth something if at least not answers. Maybe my $3600 isn't much compaired to what it cost but I am a stock holder none the less and put the faith out that someone could make it happen. SO what is going wrong that it is July and there is still nothing. I'm more that sure something would have slipped out if someone had at least one block going together. How hard would it to be to put out something once a week if not once a month. THrow me a bone, ehhhhhh. :sleep: o No:
Well put Rick lots of Buick Racers wantto no where is it whats going on he has had the main caps for some time the last time i talk to Dick it was a go and they had the block casting all ironed out the New casting place that he took it to had some cast problems. They got it figured out. he told me people would start seeing them that was a month ago
Saw a thread on the Cadillac Forum - it made mention of Jon Kaase, Dick Bradshaw ane the new Buick block. Not to sound negative, but, it didn't sound terribly promising. I sure hope this thing happens for everyone's sake!! :TU:
I had to go and read the thread on the Caddy board too. Although I don't have enough cash to replace my worn out Saturn let alone own a Buick, I am a Buick lover in my heart, if not in my garage. I have been watching this thing since I first heard of the new block. What I didn't care to see were the comments about how a fool and their money are soon parted! This is a NEEDED block for many people and because they are willing to go to great lengths to see that it happens, there is NO need to add insult to injury. Sometimes for a project like this to happen on an engine other than a Mopar, Ford, or Chevy, it takes people willing to fund it and from what I have seen, they are being VERY patient about it. I think that anyone who paid for and is waiting for a block is anything but a fool!!! You have the choice to whine about needing a block or taking the chance and laying out the cash and waiting, and wishing gets nothing done! It's time that there is a block that can stand up to the Buick power potential and I really hope this comes to life so I can at least read about it on here and see what a Buick can run without fear of throwing all the expensive stuff out the bottom of the factory block!! I have nothing invested but I'm wishing good thoughts for everyone involved in this.
I seriously doubt that the guys on the Caddy forum know any more about the status of our block than my mother does. I also know that if the project never comes to fruition, I can get my deposit back from Geof Ketchum at Finishline. Ya wanna know how I know that? Because he told me so, that's how! That's who I gave it to, so that's who I'd get it back from. That's also a moot point, because I believe the block is going to arrive. EVENTUALLY! :sleep:
What Doug!! Your mom doesn't know everything!!! Mine does, well at least that is what she tells me I agree with Doug.. I don't think our money is in jeopardy of being lost. We would just like updates that are straightforward and truthful. I don't care for the secrets and beating around the bush. I'm sure we'll get a phone call when the block is done, whenever that may be. Until then the TA mods done to Rods block are holding up just fine!!!

Doug - You're Mom must be quite a racer!! :laugh: Kidding aside....there are several vendors over there that deal with Bulldog Perf. for the alum. Caddy heads. That 'may' be one of the reasons why Richard Potter(Cadillac Performance Parts) is coming out with his own alum. heads & intake. So, there's at least a couple of the Caddy guys over there, that would be 'in the know'. Hopefully you're right......that it's just a matter of when, not if. :TU:
I'm curious, how many more people would be willing to pay up in full if the money were to be put in escrow until the block is delivered? I know I would be very tempted to do it. I can afford it today, but all of the on again off again stuff has to be discouraging to more people than me that were on the fence about coughing up the money.
So....................... Lets build Cadillac motors for our Buicks...thats still fast with class right??? Why not...and theyre HUGE man 500 inches...badabing! Start stroking with one of those babies and we forget about the block....lol all in good fun..no need for a lynching :laugh: ....fish
