Post your best bullcrap story you've ever heard here...

AS car guys we often here storys from people that are obvious lies. We have all heard a million storys from some jackass which is complete lie, which makes him, or his car look like superman. "my car runs 11s, even though its a bone stock minivan, it has an ultra rare option package". "Nitro from the factory"..... the storys go on and on, Lets post a few good ones here

This one is from a buddy who has a horrible problem with lying. He had a mid-eighties chevy celebrity wagon equipped with a 2.8. It was a dog. He rigged a poor-mans ram-air with hose from a vaccuum cleaner. he sadi after he installed it he raced an Iroc, and blew the doors off it. He had all sorts of storys like that.

 

Friend of mine has a "pieced togethor" 78 z28 that some guy had built to *give* to his son, but the son came home drunk one night so the guy sold it to my friend. (It had a 350 in it with a very mild cam, has the same g-force pull as my mom's durango ). He's always bragging about beating ricers and such but what got my attention was the "I beat a brand new bmw z3" which had just been bought by a doctor here in town. It also just happend to have the 3.2L w/321 hp (at least 50 more than his camaro) and at least 500 lb's less weight. I really think his story is b.s.

 

Its easy to 'beat' people who dont know they are racing.

 

Ain't that the truth. I have a buddy who thinks everytime he passes someone, or pulls away from them at a light he won a race. EVERYTIME!!!! He has his car floored so it must count....ou:

 

There are a lot of dumb people out there. I had a guy who looked me straight in the face this summer and said without even smircking that his new exhaust system on his ricer would give his car almost 100 additional hp (True story). I'd like to know where he got this exhaust at I'd like one too.


Another good one that I have to mention is a guy from my hometown bought a 2003 Mustang V6ou: and put on a dual exhaust and now the cars is "well" over 300 ponies. Now these are people who are full of it.

 

A guy parked next to me at a car show last summer with a stock 350 camaro (spray can rebuild) and a fancy tach with a shift lite on it claims to rev it past 9 grand when he races it on the track. He claims that it was dyno'd at 450 HP. When he fired it up to leave, it sure sounded stock to me. Over 9 grand? I don't think so.:laugh:

 

One good one was from High School. The punk with the 74 Cougar built a motor with a BIG cam...how big was the cam you say??? He told a bunch of us it was so big and the lobes were sooo tall that you couldn't roll the cam on a flat surface because the lobes would hit. Then we asked him if the lobes were so tall, how did he install the cam into the motor. He just sat there looking like an idiot.

I have at least a dozen stories of people that said their car "lifted the wheels" on the street. Not one of those people had slicks or even 90/10 shocks. Some had 235/70 rear tires.

I've done a lot of cruising, street racing, etc. And only once did I see a guy lift the front wheels. It was a 68 Camaro with a nasty small block, and even he had to bounce the car violently in 1st gear to get them to pop up.

 

At least those tend to be the easy ones to beat in a real race. :grin:

 

How bout a show I was watching last night on TLC... "Street racing". They were doing a build on two different ricers and having them race afterwards. Anyway, one of the mechanics (I use that term lightly)said he wanted to pull the girls single cam motor out and install a dual cam because two cams would give double the horsepower. After that I switched channels.

 

I have a friend from high school that I happen to see every couple of years. This guy is notorious for telling some obvious bs stories, but I think he even convinces himself. The last one I heard was when I told him about my dad's gs. He informed me that he had a 12 second saturn that he had just sold. It gets better. I then heard all about how he was invited to be a member of the saturn race team when they saw his car. OHHHHHHKAAAAAAYY. Yeah!
I was on my honda that day, and I had told him before that I got a bike. Amazingly enough, he recently got rid of an old Ducati (his wife made him get rid of it). Somehow, before I left his house that day, it had turned out to be an old Kawasaki. Strange.
I doubt he even had that.

 

This one guy, at my old highschool, put a gsr motor in his civic hatch, it ran 15.0's and was 'the fastest car at school' When I told him about the gn and the gs he said, well thats because theyre domestics!, my brother has a '79 corvette with an all steel 427 small block with 600hp stock! all I could do was smile and nod at the stupid kid (he is a senior)

One I heard today from my new friend with a crx, hes actually a cool guy, and he knows about buicks, he just wanted a sleeper civic, hes putting a twin turbo setup in it :eek2: anyways, back to what I heard, he told me the guy he got the car from had an 8 second civic that he drives on the street, i asked him if he meant 1/8th mile and he said nope! quarter!

 

There are at least 100's of eight second civics on the street, and probably 1000's of ten second civics. Problem is that no one has really ever seen one. Maybe Ripley's B.I.O.N. could do a special on this?

 

I've been called a liar several times for claiming the Buick 455 had 510 lb-ft from the factory...

 

I love how some people can guess their ET, with out ever been in a car that has a known ET, or ever run at the track. It must be some natural talent. "Thats an 11 second car, even though I've never been in an 11 second car, or a 12, 13 or 14 second car" ou:

 

I watched it all the way through. Still don't get why they called it "street racing" when they showed 2 1/4 minutes worth of real street racing then the rest was buildup and track racing. It seemed like all they did to that talon was put nitrous on it while the honda<?> got an engine swap and quote, "$10,000 worth of free parts". Also noticed that the replacement engine they got was "$3,000" while her shocks were "$2400".

 

Yeah, I came back in to watch the actual race. It was kind of unfair to that poor honduh.... I mean it was up against a AWD talon:eek2: . Although I don't think it was a turbo, After all... It did only do like a 7.8 in the 1/8th.

Kinda funny, they are young people, running small cars, on a short track... p :moonu: I guess everything about them must be Minniature :Brow: :Brow: ou:

 

I had a guy at a cruise tell me he had a set of factory Stage2 headers on his car...

I looked at it, and wondered how he got the ports to look so squareuzzled:

I then looked under the car.....MT repros!!!

I let him believe they were stage2 RAAAAAARE headers. He was trying to seel the car that night, with no such luck. I even went back to his house the next day and check it out a little harder. It was a really nice 70 GS350 with a 430 in it. It had a really nice "restoration" done to it....too bad it didn't have a heater.ou:

 

The best one I heard was a guy telling me his pinto took a vette:laugh: I politely asked him to race for $500 but he declinedo No: I usually tell people my car runs 12.9 if they want to run for $$ though :Brow: Another factor you haven't calculated for is:

Stickers: 35 Mental HP
Fart Can: 100 Mental HP
Gigantic Wing: 125 Mental HP

You're at a 160 Mental HP disadvantage right from the start:moonu:

 

Some of the 455s must have come with 455 ft lbs of torque, because it's all over the internet. It amazes me everytime how a person can lie to you, even if they know the truth.
