Anyone know where a stage 1 fuel pump is available? I used my stash on motors now I can;t find a vendor to get some more.
Nothing at TA, Jegs, Summit, Parts Place, Amazon, Rock Auto, Auto Zone, has this become a striped unicorn?
I can only find them on Jegs, https://www.jegs.com/i/ACDelco/065/40664/10002/-1?year=1970&make=BUICK&model=GS+455&submodel=BASE It lets me put it in the Cart?
I know me too. But I checked with a salesman to assure availability while I waited on the line, and he made a call, 2 minutes later he said they can't get it.
Found this posted on fleabay..... https://www.ebay.com/itm/Fuel-Pump-...775304?hash=item3ff2a405c8:g:gx0AAOSwNcpffHPF
I bet they bought out someone’s supply, and the image looks like the one Carquest was showing on the computer at Advance. I suspect Airtex was making their own and Delco’s along with a non-anodized one for private label suppliers. Patrick
yeah, I billed my customers $45 for the pump I installed on their motors cause thats what I paid. I don't want to stockpile pumps at that price.
I had to use the old pump I had on the engine I last put together. Had the same problem. Wondering if it’s just a back order item right now?
If its a fuel delivery problem try restricting the return line. I put a pill in the return line with a 1/16" hole in it. Has solved some issues on low 12 second cars.
I just E mailed AC Delco and Airtex and asked about the Stage1 pump. I'll post back when I hear from them. I can still look up the pump on the AC Delco website, but not the Airtex website,
I emailed Airtex. I asked if 40664 was discontinued and whether the Pontiac HO pump would be the same except for the arm. So far I’ve received a response asking ‘what year Buick...?’. I’ll see if anything useful comes from it. Patrick
Related question. I have an NOS AC #40664, the box is dated 1981. How do fuel pumps age after a long shelf life? If I install it will it last a bit and then fail? This one looks to have been in dry storage it’s whole life and is in great shape on the outside.
