The riveted reinforcement on the arm was eliminated on later Delco units. I have several NOS. Guessing I should hang on to them.
Yes you should. I bet Jim Weise would buy them. He uses those arms in the CV Products pumps he sells. The pump is a SBC pump. Jim replaces the Chevy arm with a Buick arm.
After several emails back and forth, Brandon at Trico/ASC/Airtex apparently has confirmed they don’t offer 40664 or any deep bowl Buick pump. I say apparently because he didn’t really read my questions, he just asked ‘year/make/model’ and directed me to the non-Stage pump, ignoring my query about 40664. Twice. They still offer the Pontiac M6405 but he also didn’t answer my question about swapping the arm. Patrick
40664 interchanges to NAPA NNP B0180P... List of $62 and NAPA online has shown for $26... My DC has a bunch of them... https://www.napaonline.com/en/search?text=B0180P&referer=semantic&se=1&txtUser=
Yes but it has the 40 gph and the fuel pressure rating of 8... The stock fpr is only 6.5... So the NAPA B0180P at least gives you what the Stage One pump does... Yes it's not the large bowl... Would you rather have a fuel pump that will work till you might be able to find a large bowl... Or do you want to have your car sitting in your garage because you want a large bowl??? Myself I'd rather be driving my car...
The NAPA fuel pump requires a new fuel line from the Pump to the Carb... As the owner of your car thats your choice.... As a shop owner thats not his choice... As a points show car.. Well now your car is just a common car..
So does the Airtex 41198 for 17.11, https://www.rockauto.com/en/catalog...l+455cid+v8,1379763,fuel+&+air,fuel+pump,6256 https://www.rockauto.com/en/moreinfo.php?pk=58849&cc=1379763&jsn=420 I agree, I wouldn't let that stop me from enjoying the car. To Bob's point, the metal fuel lines are different. You would need to find a way to extend the fuel line connection at the pump a few inches, or use a different fuel line. It is pretty easy to use a braided AN line with two conversion fittings. That would be one solution if you don't want to alter your stock line. I am sure there are other solutions.
I was reading recently that there's a guy who rebuilds NOS crimped AC pumps or old AC crimped pumps. You know, like you buy an NOS pump and worry how long it will last. He opens them and puts modern rubber in them.
If you Google Fred Ballard Fuel Pump Rebuild, https://www.google.com/search?client=firefox-b-1-d&q=fred+ballard+fuel+pump+rebuild Looks like he is well regarded.
Ok Dave et al, yes that that's the guy. Fred's classics Fred Ballard, says he's done 1500 of them. There were pics of one, an AC one, I'll drag them over here when I get time. The problem he's having right now is the parts come from you know where, and he's having difficulty getting them right now.
