Well Joe, that's the whole incentive of re-doing them. You have an NOS or original old pump, and you know it's not compatible. So this guy is using modern compatible bellows. Most of the pumps now like Spectre come from China, they are compatible with today's fuels. This guy Fred is using those parts from China.
Maybe the other fuel pump needs a new line... I looked this one over before and if I remember correctly the line goes in in the same spot and the hole sizes use the same thread... I can't remember, but I think it's the one I installed on my car... Mine has a Holley so the line at the carb side is different already... I bent up a new one anyway as the one on my car looked "past expiration date" ... I agree, if you are going at this as a judged vehicle then you need the correct parts... I'll have to go back to post 1 by the OP, I don't remember if the OP was going after a "judged" pump... Plus my idea was more of a if you aren't "judging" your vehicle at least you will have a pump that works... .
From what I remember the line will work, it the same size and thread... It was a while ago that I researched this so memory is a little foggy...
Yes, the fitting is 5/8-18 inverted flare on both pumps. The Stage1 pump has a much deeper bottom section, so the line is longer to accommodate that.
I spoke to Fred regarding rebuilding a factory ac delco stage 1 pump. He waits for lots of 20 to get them replated. He didn’t mention a back order on components but did state the going rate at around $275 included is the return shipping. He said if ur just looking at rebuilding the pump without replating the return time is less and could get on it when he receives it
These are out on Evilbay. I have no idea on quality. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Fuel-Pump-...entrq:64da04e71780ha1bcd2f130b5ffd73753|iid:1
So are these; https://www.ebay.com/itm/Fuel-Pump-...Wagon-Lesabre-Riviera-1975-1976-/363195687736 I bought one; it looks like a fuel pump. I haven’t tried it yet, don’t know if it’s up to spec or not. If someone wants to test it I’ll send it... Patrick
Hey guys, FYI - about a month ago I received my restored pump from Fred. It took about 4 months between delays, COVID etc but it came back super nice plated correctly. It was a NOS Pontiac pump for the GTO I am working on and plating was not great so I sent it out. Costly at $275 but worth it to have correct AC embossed and part number if your looking for correctness.
Found these on the old interweb. I know nothing about them, so Buyer Beware! https://www.hiltopautoparts.com/product/nos-fuel-pump-1968-72-buick-400-455-stage-1-v8-models/ https://jcaparts.com/products/1967-1974-buick-455-gs-stage-1-fuel-pump-high-volume https://hagensautoparts.com/?search=FP40664 https://www.autozone.com/external-engine/fuel-pump/buick/gs-455 This one is from a regular Buick vendor... http://www.oldbuickparts.com/product_info.php?products_id=8403
T/a had one on display at nats. Still in the works. They are making sure it’s the correct pressure pump and has mandrel bent fuel lines b4 cutting it loose for production. Stated price will be under $100 Will be a good alternative vs the Off shore ones on eBay. I did order one from eBay. $38. It seems to work fine however never tested pressure etc
I saw it, should have taken a picture of it. It was entirely silver in color with a TA sticker, so, no, it doesn't look like OE plating.
They will have the correct bolt hole diameter , spacing and a modified pump arm so it clears the timing chain We spoke at length about it . Seems like they did their home work on it to insure a quality product.
