I don't usually get involved in these types of threads but I just can't resist.
I am as far west of the Mississippi as you can get. I am also north of the
49th parallel as well. I've been on the board for over 4 years. Yes, when I first became a member I was a newbie Buick owner. And yes, it felt a little intimidating at the time until I had a few posts under my belt. HOWEVER, I always got answers to my questions (sometimes later than sooner) and was never made to feel unwanted. Now I'm one of those guys that has been around a while and I try to help out whenever possible. You had 77 views and no response. I had my 69 GS for sale and had over 300 views and no response from a buyer. Does that bother me or make me feel that I'm being shunned? Heck no, all it means is that the 300+ people who viewed the thread weren't interested in buying a car or not interested in buying my particular car. I have made some great friends on this site from all the way from NYC to Seattle and many places in between. Sometimes it takes time to get a response, but someone will eventually respond.

Regarding your question about a car for sale here I have two points to make:
    1. I can't tell you what a car is worth from a couple of pictures and a written description.
    2. Secondly, I wouldn't publicly trash another members car that was for sale on the board.

Stick with the V8 group. They (we) will grow on you!
Cheers and good luck with your search.

So you'd rather have any answer just to take up space? A GS455 is a rare and value-rising musclecar. Unless you find one in a barn for $100, I suggest patience concerning them. Including waiting for answers from those in the know. Figure this board is probably less than half GS owners. And many of then are busy planning an event that is currently going on.

oh yeah, if you don't get a reply after a couple of days go back to your post and reply to it yourself. just put something like "bump".

many of us click on the "New Posts" (since the last time you were here) button on the top of the page. if it's been a long time since we've been on the board, the board won't even list the oldest posts. and i'm sure some people don't even bother to go back all the way even if the board does list all the 'posts since' for them.

so, by posting "bump" to a post, you'll keep it at the top of the list.

I have a make your own muscle car project. `64 Skylark sport coupe (same platform as the `67). Currently has the original 300 4bbl engine. Typical AZ car, great metal, interior needs attention. Big block transplants are extremely popular in these. For a total investment of approx. $12-15k in something like this you can make an awesome muscle car.

Roy, I understand what you're saying. I grew up with a 1964 Wildcat as our family car. I learned to drive in it, as well as some "other" things :Brow: . The last '64 Wildcat I looked at and drove was in about '85. It was a white drop-top. I wanted one, and it just kept rolling around in the back of my mind. Right after I joined the site, I found the car I'd been looking for. But, it was far, far out of my price range at the time. I contacted the owner and talked to him several times to learn about '64 Wildcats as well as a few other owners too. Out of the blue, he contacted me saying the Wildcat was for sale, if I was interested. I bought it. The whole point is be persistent. Check eBay and every other website you can find. I Googled "1964 Buick Wildcat for sale" and found several sites that I checked every week. Your car is out there. You just haven't found it, yet. If I can help, let me know. Here's mine.

The biggest problem I can see as answer to you, is where you placed your request for info in the "wet behind the ears" section.
    I rarely(if ever) look here:Do No:

If I have question's that I feel are important(to me), and I can't decide where on the board is the best place to ask, I post it in "The Bench", mainly because there are alway's alot of people in that section of the Board.
Another thing that is helpful, are the board moderator's. If you place something way off topic in the wrong forum, they will move it to a more suitable section of the board.

If you are new to the classic car scene, I assure you that Buick people are the best out there, and I have owned almost every brand, so I feel comfortable making that statement. Don't get off on the wrong foot, the whole "vibe" coming from the title of this topic doesn't feel good.

Good luck in your search, spend time in the bench. Now that you have introduced yourself, your not a newbie, and don't belong in the "wet behind the ears" section:Smarty:

    Hey Roy,

Dont feel too bad about the lack of responce to your threads or leads to the car you want. But while you look you can drive by my house (about a 20min drive) to work on my '65Wagon so you dont feel so lonely

I say dont rush to buy a car, take time and get the right car the first time, or you'll end up w/ 3-4 cars in your driveway :pp

I think your car is choice looking. I see the wait was worth it. I had to sell my first Cat due to a divorce in 76 and the guy didnt want my spare parts, so I kept them and swore I would find a another 64 convert, And one day in 79 I picked up the paper and saw one for sale. And I bought this one for 650$ and I still have it. So be patient and you shall find
    Good hunting

Found mine in the lemon lot on Ft. Lewis. Actually I wasn't looking at all until I saw it and just thought..."Forget it". Then the better half found it and that was it. It's sittin in the driveway slowly being restored. It runs like a scaleded dog, but looks like the dog's other end. Paint's coming soon I hope. Not much else I can tell ya but patience is the key to it. Eventually you'll find what you're looking for.

Okay. I must now have to admit that there are a lot of good people on V8Buick.com. I should have been more patient in regards to getting replies to my post. As of this writing, I've received seven posts for the opinion of a '71 GS 455 I was interested in, not to mention the many responses I've received in regards to me "starting to lose faith in the Buick faithful." I now do regret that I put that as the title of my post, even if it did grab a lot of attention. Still, I want to thank every one has replied to this post. Nobody kick me while I was down, even though they had the opportunity to do so. Thanks to all of you for your advice, your understanding, and your words of encouragement. It was very helpful to learn that many of you could relate to what I was going though in regards to your search for your Buicks. I've been humbled by this experience, and if I offended any of you, I hope you all can accept my apology. The Buick crowd is definitely unique and special as one member had told me.

I've already sent a PM to many of the people who've posted their responses, and will also do so for the people who remain. Many of you have provided good leads. Unfortunately for me, some of the cars were already sold or out of my price range, but I haven't given up and will continue my quest.

    Best Regards,

    Roy

Roy have you tried the Pamona swap meet. I have seen some Buicks there.
I don't recall seeing a 67 but have seen 65s and 66s. You have to be careful though these aren't usually Buick people and some of them try to cover flaws.
    Good Luck in your search.

    Hi Scott,

You have a very nice '72 Skylark! The price you're asking is very reasonable and if I had the extra money, I would inquire about it. However, my heart is set on an original '67-'72 GS Buick A-body (preferably with a big-block V8). I only have a budget for that at this time and that's what I'm really looking for. Thanks anyway!

Sorry you are disappointed with us Buick people, but looks like you got more repleies than I did trying to find a 67 Special 2dr. post car a few years ago. It may have to do with the fact that there is just not what you want in your area that is know by this board. Never was able to find one un til after I bought and built a hardtop car.
    Good luck,
    Jim N.
