Never was able to find one un til after I bought and built a hardtop car.

that's the way it always goes. as long as you want one you can look high and low and never see anything. as soon as you couldn't possibly make room for it anymore they start popping up all over the place.

    Roy,

A very good friend has a 67 GS400 hardtop. Buckets, auto/console, not sure on the options but it might be something to consider. If you're interested PM me and I can forward his phone number. The car is in Peoria, AZ. Its the tuquoise/blue color combo with black interior.

Oh man... So close to home and just when I don't have any money! :TU: I haven't seen it cruisin' around town or at any of the shows, but would like very much to see it, without a doubt. :Brow: Jim

Well, I contacted the owner of the '67 GS 400 and found out the car has been sitting for two years. The seller bought it off eBay without inspecting the car. When he got the car, he found evidence that the car had been in wreck on the driver's side. He said it was repaired, but the repair was done poorly, as if it was done at Earl Schieb. According to the owner, the car is restorable, but the repair will have to be done again to make it right. He also said that the radiator had a pinhole leak in it. He paid $12k for the car, but now regrets not inspecting the car before buying it. I thanked him for his time, but was not interested. Please see my post for what I am looking for:

I've been looking for either a '67 GS 400, a '69-'72 Stage 1, or a '70-'72 GS 455. Another V8Buick.com member advised that I should just pick one and concentrate on finding that one particular Buick car, since it would probably make my search easier. So, I guess I am going to pick the car I was originally looking for and say the '67 GS 400. Here's the link I have posted in the Cars Wanted forum:

    Thanks for asking, Al.

Roy, your welcome! :beer As far as a 67 GS400, nice pick (I love Ken's 67 4-speed drop top!). That is a tuff one because of rust and the market has many 70-72 models around. A nice 67 would bring big $$$$s and I almost bought a 65 4-Speed GS before finding the one I have now. As I posted earlier 70-72 would be a easer find. I'l note your user name and keep an eye out, AL.

The major problem is Buick performance parts are at a premium compared to Chevy parts.
It costs much more to build up a Buick, than most other gm brands.
Your pretty much going to be buying equipment from ta performance.
I hang out here and absorb as much info as I can.
There just isn't a million folks with answerers to all your questions as you might think.
I'm sure someone may eventually have some helpful advice for you.
    Just be patient.

Well not sure if your interested in a 72 skylark 350, very good priced, i also dont know where you are exactly in california im in the Riverside,ca area..there is one here about 45 miles away in palm springs selling for 1800 go to craigslist.org and look for buicks in your area..im pretty sure you can find one.. although it may not be in that good of conditions beleive it or not although most people thing buicks are not as much as chevelles, i bought my skylark for 400 bucks about 5 years ago..99.9% rust free...was sitting in a storage yard outside, does not have rust in the back of window, trunk looks like new, undercarriage is good no damages, paint was all good..only thing is the hood apperently had a backfire or what ever and burned the paint and it started rusting away, these cars are very strong compared to chevy chevelle engines, or others, and are good GS projects...and trust me i also own 2 1969 chevelles and my skylark is the better looking between them 2...just my opinion..also check out recycler.com

Unfortunately some of us don't get on here as much as we would like. I for instance have a few sections on here that I mostly go to. Because some of the other sections are a little slow. One place on this site that is always a busy place is the bench. A lot of good people are on here, and the bench is the most viewed area. There are several people who have helped me out on here, just a matter of what you are needing help with.

I have to say that the last few weeks have really reminded me why I enjoyed being a part of the V8 Buick crowd. Between the collective knowledge base, and complete strangers willing to help out, it's almost overwhelming. I've had people that I never met, outright give me some parts that I needed and even refuse payment when offered. Offers to give a hand turning a wrench are pretty abundant too. The people here really show class and character. I may disagree with a few opinions, and some disagree with mine, but overall this group is one of the best when it comes to car people. That being said, back to being my grumpy self :beers2:

    OLDS442GM Going Fast With Class!

:Smarty: Based on experience, I have been on the board a long time and through and through the Buick guys have been the best. I've had Artie help with with some pretty hard to find parts and he has come through. Every time I open my hood I think of Artie helping me out with my air cleaner! But I do have to say paitence is the key, I started out with a trashed 70 Buick Skylark...then through a board member found a better 70 Skylark, found a GS hood, and the GS air cleaner! Estimated time for all of my findings (7 years!). I even ran a HUGE picnic in Holmdel park in NJ and ALOT of Buick guys from far away came here to party and shoot the breeze for 1 day and it was raining the entire picnic, nedless to say I was really impressed with the good hearted people that came :beer and people still talk about it!.

All and all we are a great group of guys and we are willing to help out when we can, but dont forget, most of us have famlies and other prioritys that come first! :TU:

P.S. if your looking for a car thats already done, take a look at my friends car dealership in NJ www.futureclassicsnj.com if your interested in a car there, call and talk to my friend JT, he is honest and fair and will give you a great deal and they ship nationwide, even sold a car to Jay Leno!!!

Roy - my experience as a newbie on this forum has been exactly the opposite of you, and I also live on the West Coast. I have wanted a GS since high school (65-67 was my desire, convertible only). A couple of years ago I finally convinced myself (and my accountant) that I could afford. I found a couple, put posts on this web asking for opinions, and got plenty. When I finally found the one I wanted (and could afford), I got more opinions. When I have needed help, I have gotten it. This is one of the best forums I have found on the web for anything, let alone for Buicks. Don't go with a Chevelle; you'll pay twice as much for something that doesn't have half the cachet of a nice Buick. And, you won't see the same thing parked in half a dozen places at your neighborhood car gathering.

Hang in there, buddy, and don't jump without looking close and getting help first. The right car will come along; it certainly did for me.

Hi. I just wanted to address the items on your original post.

    1. I'm a newbie to this forum too. I posted a hello in the newbie section, and was disappointed to only have two replies. I would have figured more than that for a board with this many members. Then again, with this many members, they probably get a dozen new people every day, so saying hello could easily become a full time job.

    2. Advice on a forum members car. The members of most forums are scattered across the entire globe. We may talk for the rest of our lives, and never actually meet, so most people will not know any more about another members car than what you do by looking at pictures or reading a description. Also, you will find very few members that will trash talk another members car. It's the polite thing to do, and it's probably just as polite not to ask, and put them in a position they don't want to be in. I would never say anything bad about another members car, no matter what they were asking for it, or what condition it was in.

    3. As far as the car you are looking for, I think you are being unrealistic. I'm not trying to flame you, or mean any disrespect, but look at what you want. A no rust, never wrecked, low mileage, loaded, original 67 GS. That's a premium car, and will easily cost twice what you want to pay. If cars like that do exist, they are are going to be the exception, and very rare, so no one is going to be able to point one out to you easily. Also, if someone did run across a car like that, they would probably buy it for themselves.

It took me over two years of diligent searching to find my 67 GS400, and I mean that I actually could not find one, locally, in all that time, in ANY condition. It's an amateur restoration with 54k original miles, a NOM 400, and it's a nice driver, but nowhere near a showcar, yet I still paid $15k for it because I knew that it might be another few years before I ran across another one, and by then, it would be a lot more expensive. Did I pay too much? I don't know, but I can drive it, it looks good, turns a lot of heads, and no one else in the surrounding towns has one like it. There are tons of Chevelles and Camaros, but not one other Buick GS400, no matter where I go.

If your expectations are in line, you'll find one. If they're not, chances are you never will.

Roy! I fell in love with Buicks when I was still wearing short pants and the 67 A-body before I even got to high-school and I am pretty darn close to your age! My Dad bought a 1970 Electra Convertible dealer demo with factory duals and a posi. Twin black Uniroyal stripes were his favorite thing for a few months!

I've only had my 67 GS400 for about four years now. It took that long to find the car when I actually had the money to do something about it at the same time. It still has the engine in boxes and dreams in my garage but we get closer every month or so when I can fund another purchase. Patience will win the day for finding the car and the deal you want.

As far as help and replies, I've had dry spells too. Why? Who knows. I can tell you that I don't even remember your post from before. Where did you put it?
