My condolences to the Simpson family, I enjoyed talking to Peter while my son and I were were restoring our '70 Acadian, his encouragement was such an inspiration to us to to complete our father/ son project. God speed Peter.

I just sat down this evening to see what, if anything was going on with the board today and I get this.

One of my buddies is going to be shifting gears at a higher level.

First thing: Owen, Eric, and Vicky...... My heart is heavy as one of the great guys to grace the planet is gone, but he is your Dad/ husband. I cannot even begin to put into words how sorry I am for your loss. Please let me know if there is anything I can do from down here.

I can remember the first time I met Pete..... It was Martin in 03.... JJ and Pete... Practicing for the Olympics!

Pete and I often talked farming in our conversations. I never gave him the update for the fall harvest back home....I am going to miss those talks.

I never will forget the time I visited in the winter and Pete took me to the Glencoe curling hall....... That man could show you a good time for sure!

I will always remember Pete's wisdom at the drag strip. One time he gave me a motivating speech about the importance of leaving first off the Christmas Tree. Every time that I pull my helmet on and strap up, that speech gets me braced for all comers!

I will finish my thoughts and also finish my beer in saying this...... I will miss my friend.

I got the text from Chris (Bluesalad) on this earlier this evening. It definitely took the wind out of my sails as I was happy to hear (last night) that he had been doing better. My condolences to Owen, Eric and Vicky. Damn.......

I am simply at a loss for words. The news of losing Peter yesterday stopped me in my tracks and I couldn't stop thinking of him, as well as Vicky, Eric, and Owen. I am so sorry for your loss. Peter was a great friend and it was an honor to have known him all these years. I, we, all of us will never forget him, his wonderful sense of humor, his great wit, and boundless knowledge of the cars he loved and of our sport. Peter, you will always be in our hearts and memories. Rest in peace my friend.

I got the call early in the day about Peter and it was something I did not expect at all. I am at a loss for words about all of it .. There is many people I looked forward to seeing and interacting with at all of our events and Peter was at the very top of that list . I enjoyed talking to him , he always seemed to give me a piece of time one on one at all the events .. He was a great man , a good friend , I was lucky to have had the chance to know him, and with a heavy heart I will miss him. The PSMCD experience will not be the same with out him.

Vicky, Owen , Eric know he is in all our thought and prayers and I am so sorry for your loss ...

I have had a day to digest this terrible news and have gone from shocked to deeply saddened. Mike and I met Peter at the '96 pure stock race. Every race after, he made time to come around and ask how we were doing. There was no "I" or "ME" with Peter. He was truly interested in what other people were doing and wanted the best for everyone. Through the years I met Vicky, Eric and Owen and realize that Peter was a man who was truely Blessed, just as we have all been Blessed to know him. He was a great ambassador for the hobby and will be sadly missed.

I offer my sympathies to Vicky, Eric, Owen and the rest of Peter's family. I also want to thank each and every one of you for being there to support a very good man through his all to short life.

    Rest in Peace, Peter

The first time I ever saw copo pete was when he was featured on the american muscle car show that was filmed at Stanton , then again on dream car garage , I think JJ was also on that one. Then I went to my first pure stock race and met the tv star, JJ and Bruno. It was the year that bruno raced the vette against marks hemi challenger. I looked forward to seeing the group at martin, Stanton and the Clary Christmas party. Copo pete will be missed, I hope the Canadian team will continue the tradition. The next time I get into my Copo Camaro, the burnout will be for you COPO PETE!!! RIP

I was wondering why I couldn't find a thread on Pete other than the funeral arrangements - the thread is a "Sticky.":Dou:

When I was a kid and driving to the Supercar Showdown events with a few folks from Jersey, one of my friends would always be paired with Pete, so that's how I got to know him. So when he joined the ranks of Pure Stock, I was happy to reconnect with him.

I've gotta say that Pete had the best nice personality/fast car quotient in Stanton! Pete, you will be missed, but I imagine we're not done seeing your cars in action.

Vicky, Owen & Eric. - our sincere condolences go out to you and your entire family for your loss, you are all in our thoughts and prayers. Words cannot express our feelings at hearing the news of Pete's passing. I remember all of the good times racing with and against Pete, JJ and all the gang from Canada. The friendly rivalry between the Chevy and my Mopar. From the days of the old NMCA, NSCA and thru the Pure Stock races it was always a pleasure to visit and talk with Copo Pete and all of his friends. He was such a gracious, friendly man who enjoyed cars, his farm, his family and life in general. My wife LouAnn and I will never forget how you and Pete opened up your house to us in Oct. 2010 when we were passing through West Loren and stopped by unannounced. Yes, we knew it was a long trip up north from Texas but, I just couldn't go through without stopping by for a visit with and old friend. Pete will be missed by all who knew him, but he will never be forgotten. God Rest his Soul.

We apologize for taking so long to post something. It wasn't until Thursday evening that found out about Peter's passing. Along with the rest of you, we were in shock & disbelief and had to take some time to digest this before we could even post any words. The last time we checked for information on Peter, he was making slow but forward progress.....then to find out he's gone.......

Peter was a great guy, a one of a kind. What a blessing it was to have known him. As we privately reminisced our memories of Peter last night, we know his absence from this hobby will be devastating. The pits will NOT be the same. HE WILL BE MISSED!!

As we all know, with life comes death. What we can't understand sometimes is the timing of it.

Vicky, Eric, Owen and the extended Simpson family, we can't imagine the loss you are feeling right now. We will continue to lift you up in our prayers.

We already miss you Copo Pete.

This thread really needs to have more stories and pictures of Peter. Who has a great story about Peter?

    Great idea Tom!!

I'll start with a picture that pretty much sums up the Copo Pete and JJ relationship. Taken in Scottsdale a few years ago during our annual "mancation". Pete barely restrains his buddy with that sheepish grin of his.

I remembeber the first time I thought I could go toe to toe with the Canadian drinking Team. Of course this consisted of Pete and Jimmy. They warned me that these are Canadian beers Better put a nipple on it for You. Yeah right !! I thought. After a long parking lot party and Not much sleep, The next day we were all at Norwalk. I was trying to work on my Chevelle, Pete walks up to me feelin fine and says" How ya feelin this morning Timmy? You look a little green around the gills " Ohh I'm fine -movin a little slow but ok. Pete Laughs KNOWING they put a hurt on me. Then says , Maybe we'll see you for lunch- Maybe some nice greasy sausages. Yeah -thanks , He walks away giggling .
After a few minutes of practicing my breathing technics to keep the PUKE down, i go back to working on the car. Then Roberta walks up and starts talking to me..after only a minute or two. I look at her and say, Excuse me on sec. Well poor roberta almost caught a shoe full of puke.. She looks at me and says" well i'll talk to you later" :Dou:

This only proved- It doesn't take a big man to drink and be stupid, anyone can do that, But it takes a lifetime to be a Superstar!
