My first car was a 1966 Skylark hardtop 300, 2bbl, powerglide.

I have too many favorites to list.

I'm very partial to my mom's 62 Skylark convert, 215, 4bbl, 4 spd though (her first car).

Greg Schmelzer What are you looking at?!

    It wasn't a 'car'...

It was actually a 1972 Chevy C10, 350ci 4 bbl th350. I loved that truck. I still don't remember why I got rid of it. I think I traded it for a little body work on a '70 Challenger and a Kenwood stereo.

Boy, did Randy ever ever see me coming!!!:Dou: :Dou: :Dou:

2d car was a, get this, 1977 VW Rabbit. That thing was a terror in 1st and 2d gear. After that, it just kind of fell on it own nose. Traded that for a 1977 VW Scirocco. Then I found out that a Scirocco at 70 mph will NOT move a 1983 Olds 98 that is stopped at a stoplight, no matter how fast the Scirocco is going. I, on the other hand, did not fare as well as the Olds. Thankfully, I didn't kill any one that day. :TU:

After that, I pretty much stuck to American cars, with the exception of the year when I was stupid, er, married. Had a POS Nissan tht the wife thought was 'pretty'. :Do No:

Dummy. Use the big head for thinking!:spank: :spank: :spank: :Brow:

A used '74 Camaro Type LT (trim option). It never ran right, but was a lot of fun when it ran.

Try a 1956 Studebaker Champion three speed with overdrive. In HS several of the guys would have to get out before it would pull a steep hill. From miles away you could always tell where I was because the perpetual smoke signals from the exhaust.

My first car was a 67 Mustang Convertible my cousin bought new. I had lots of fun in that car every summer at the Jersey shore. The girls loved the convertible. I kept the car for about 20 years, but decided to sell it and all the parts to fund the X-Camino project. Still miss it.

    70 GS 350

My first car was a 70 GS 350. I boubht it when i was 15 and only paid $25 dollars for it. My dad over heard a guy he worked with talking about what he could get for the car at the junk yard. My dad told him that i would give him whatever the junk yard would..About a week later the delivered the car to me.Cant beat that for 25 bucks. All it needed was tires ,exhaust.arear bumper, and the engine oil bypasses cleaned out. As of this day i've owned the car 2 times and 4 of my friends have owned it.And 1 of them still has it to this day.

As to my favorite i guess it would be my 70 GS 455 i've had it since 86 and i'm doing a frame off on it right now. But like most others i've had alot of cars i wished i'd never got rid of.

My first car was a '66 Impala convertible with a 283 c.i. and two speed slushbox. I paid $200.00 to a friend for that car. Being from the snowbelt in western N.Y. it had it's share of cancer and the motor was weak. Had to park it on a grade so I could coast start it!! Money was tight for a while!! The girls liked it. Alas, it ended up parked in a friends field, rotting. What was I thinking? Had many '60's Chevys in those days.

Wish I'd been a little smarter and just stored it somewhere. :Dou: Fun to read everyones stories.

My first car was a '64 Electra 225 4dr hardtop. I helped my Grandma pick it out in the fall of '63 when I was 5 years old. I got it when I turned 16 in 1974. A year later I bought my 1st 1975 Skyhawk and kept it until 1981 with 120,000 miles on it. Still have the '64 Electra...just can't bear selling her to anybody. Not worth really anything to anybody but me. Just this past December bought another '75 Skyhawk and having a blast with it!

`71 Centurion 4dr hardtop. 455, TH400, 3.42 Posi. In 1986 bought it for $200 from people who couldn't afford to put gas in it. Very good condition for being in upstate NY. My only old car that still had good paint, interior, drive train, etc. Broke the nylon timing chain gear and had a friend fix it, he didn't prime the oil pump and he ran it for about an hour trying to figure out the oil pump issue, needless to say it was ruined, and I didn't have the $$ to fix it. I really miss that car. Other cars that I had that I wish I still had: `63 Thunderbird, `66 Chevelle Wagon.

    My First Car

A 1970 Olds F-85 (A.K.A. a plain Jane Cutlass) with a 350. Given to me at 17 by my parents when they traded for a VW Scirocco and the dealer would only give them $300 for trade in. I loved the car, drove it to Nashville, Tennessee and back after I graduated. My father spotted the '71 GS Stage 1 for sale three years later and convinced me I should buy it! What a smart man! (gave the Olds to my younger brother). I still have the GS and it is my favorite - always will be. Got to give credit to the '85 VW Golf I bought after graduating from college and drove it 240,000 miles-tuff, good handling car. Still in love with the GM early 70's cars. Daily driver is 70 4-door Chevelle I bought in 1995 with 28,000 miles on it (250, 2 speed trans, manual everything including armstrong power steering). Now has 123,000 and goes 50 miles each day to work and back. Just bought a '70 Estate Wagon with 455-4V, TH400 and posi rear. Haven't really driven it yet-planning to go to Flint in July with the wagon! Can't wait.
