    First Car?

Love my Buicks but would love to have my first car back....1963 SS Impala 409 4 speed Convertible. Paid $899. Sold it to a friend. It was stolen and he did not have the money to pay the storage yard after it was recoved. Saw one like it a few year back for $30K (no hydraulics  ). I still have recurring dreams that this car is parked in my garage and how glad I am for keeping it. Then I wake up.: ball:

I started driving in 1974 and my first car was a 1970 4 dr Olds Delta 88 with Rocket 455. Dad had the mechanic disconnect 2 barrels on the 4 barrel carb but the car still had plenty of get up and go. I won many inpromptu burn out contests in this car.

Favorite cars.... I've been blessed since I currently own my favorites. I also have a soft spot for early F Body Trans-Ams and AMC AMX cars. The one car I'd really like to drive or own one day would be a BBB GS 4 speed car. Next Turbo Regal I own will be a 87 Limited Turbo with bench/ column- very rare sleeper. Owned a 66 Corvette Sting Ray Roadster w/327 4 speed for 12 yrs- car was really too nice to drive which always made me paranoid. Liked the car, really disliked most of the other owners attitudes! Sold the car and doubled my investment- got into Buicks- never looked back and never regretted it!

    1973 Ford Pinto Wagon

I am the 4th child in a familay of 8 kids with 2 older brothers and the cars I was exposed to were very exciting.

67 chevelle with the 327, manual trans, and steep gears, A 340 duster with a 4 spd, 66 pontiac tempest 2 spd auto, a ford galaxie convertable, 68 ford falcon with a v8, and a pontiac catalina 2dr with a 400 CI. Now these were all at an age where i was to young to drive but close enough to dream.

So which one did I get to drive? A 1973 Pinto station wagon with a slipping transmission. followed by a Fiat 128 sedan.

My first real car was purchased in 1998 and it was a 1970 skylark 350, 4 bl. my first v8 in 20 years. I have since put in a 455

Music to my ears 455 open headers. now tamed to 2.5 exhausts. but when i get longing for spring just fire up the 455 and enjoy the music. What a primal sound. irt gets my heart just a thumpin.

mine was a 1979 olds cutlass i got it the day after i got my license only took about a month to kill the tires and blow up the slug 260 v8. After installing 1 72 350 olds, 11 trans, 2 rearends and wreaking it for the 4th time my parents made me sell it.

My mom found my skylark, in pieces in a garage here in ohio, and in michigan from a guy she worked with. Thanks mom.

This is my first car! It's a 1963 Chrysler, with a 361 big block, pushbutton 727 and 2.76 geared 8 3/4. Honestly! My dad gave it to me for my 16th birthday 3 years ago. Oldest car in school parking lot. I recently put an Edelbrock DP4B with an old Carter AFB in place of the old 2bbl, and boy, did it pick up! Best time with the 2bbl was 18.48 @ 72mph. Hopefully, a bit faster with the Carter.

I'm in the situation of possibly selling it now (as my sig notes). It's a tough decision! I know you'll all tell me to keep it!:Dou:

My firsr car was a 68 Wildcat Custom 4 door hardtop. I paid it 700 canadian $ when I was 15 years old and learned how to drive with it... a few months before I got my driver's liscence! It was my daily driver for eight years and a few accidents until I got the fatal one (to my car) in february 2000. I loved that car! It has 3.42 posi rear and had very decent performance for such a big car! I hope I'll get another one like this one day!

'71 Pontiac Grand Safari. Huge monster wagon w/455 4bbl, clamshell tailgate, every button imaginable back then. Would smoke my buddies' 350 Camaro with ease on a straight road. (Curves, of course, were a different story.) Put the back seat down and it had all kinds of room for..............well let's suffice it to say it had all kinds of room.

the mazda mx-6 i had when i was 16 was ok... wrecked it... the isuzu amigo i replaced it with is udder crap... so i'd say my first car (well first real car) would be this gs i got off of my grandma

  12. My first car was a '67 Barracuda but my first NEW car was a 1973 Buick Century 350-4 with a 3.42 axle. Black with Burgundy interior. It was a nice sleeper. At 48,000 miles I redid the 350 with factory 10.25 pistons and shaved the heads .030 and added a .484 lift 284 duration cam. The car was almost too much fun. Al my friends had Chevelles or Novas instead of a Buick but when they got dusted by the Buick it made it all worth while.
My first fun encounter with a Buick and probably what has made me a closet Buick freak for years was my mom's 64 Wildcat. It was a 4 door hardtop but she ordered the car and bought it with the 2-4 425 engine. Thank God I was too young to drive that one or I would have done something stupid back then.)

My first car was a 1969 VW Beetle complete with no floors, no heat, no brakes and a major oil leak. My dad and I fixed it up and that's what I learned to drive in. Cold ride in the Michigan winter but we sure had fun.

Next car was a 1970 Chevelle 350 4bbl. Ended up with 3 tickets in four weeks: Brow: so it was replaced with another VW.

Since then I've own 5 more Chevelles (68'-75') and a 1967 Pontiac LaMans.

I love the A cars. Now I just need to talk the wife into letting me get my Buick.

My first car was a '72 Skylark Custom in Slivermist with a black interior. It had 111,000 miles on it and Dad lent me $750 to buy it in April of 1982. It was rusty in the quarters. I spent a ton of money over the next few years on paint and body work, I rebuilt a 455 and dropped it in in 1984. A GS hood and a 3:08 posi were added later. Two years later came the Crower cam and Kenne Bell chrome headers. I had one of the fastest cars in town. Everyone knew who I was. The car defined me.

The cancer wouldn't stay out of the quarters...driving in snow and salt on the streets of Bellevue and Omaha were too much. I had to make a decision...keep the car and be consumed or get through college.

Right after I graduated from college, I saw an ad for a GS 455 in the paper. I wenht to look at the car and it was my old Skylark. Some kid 6 years younger than me thought he had a GS 455. He rebuilt the engine but had done little else to it. I felt bad breaking the news to him. He was truly shocked. Along the line, someone had passed the car off as a GS. There was no GS badging on it anywhere! I added 455 empblems to the fenders at some point and I guess that's where it started.

I often wish I had made him a stupid offer and been able to buy it back...but that was a dozen or so years ago. I happy with the memories of racing on Abbott drive north of the airport.

I raced a 442 with a 455/4speed setup. The car was built!, but the guy clearly didn't know how to drive it or launch it. I beat him three times. When we parked and looked under each other's hoods, his expression and the disbelief in his voice was priceless. It looked like a daily driver under the hood, becasue that's what it was. I had a qjet, stock intake, a cam and headers. I even had a stock GS aircleaner on it. His was beautifully dressed up, but it didn't nmake his car fast enough!

:TU: My first car was a 1957 Triumph TR 3 . 2 seats 4 cyls 4 speed 2 sidedraft one barrels! It was rated at 100 HP and ran 15's in the quarter, hooked up quick and with solid lifters would wind up forever. Biggest problem I had with the car was killing generators from too many R'S! My favorite car was my second car a 1960 Corvette with a 292 C.I. dual quads fuelie cam and solids fuelie heads Hedman headers Mallory Rev Pol 4 speed with 4:11 0r 4:88 gears depending on the competition in town for the weekend. Car ran low 13's high 12's with slicks and open headers. I would love to have that car back! I will have to admit out of all the muscle cars I have owned big and small blocks my current 455 Stage 1 has more torque than all the rest of them put together!

  18. My very first daily driver was a 1966 Chevy Bel-Air with 126,000 miles on it sunk about $2,000 into it then sold it for $800. i had nothing but pronlems with it. The guy i sold it to drove it Coney Island and as he was parking it the engine siezed the same day he bought it from me. When i sold it it had 173,000 miles on it. Lucky me i guess!:Brow:

My first car was a 79 Malibu 4 door with the 200CI V-6. I guarantee this car was slower than anyone elses first car.
A street sweeper or zamboni woulda blew it away. Of course thats probably why I'm still alive to write this.
