If the Biscayne sells, I'm going to break out my '70 383 Charger SE 500 (my first car) for Cindy to drive. Car hasn't been out of my shop in probably 8 years. Won't be the prettiest (old paint), but it'll be perfect for Cindy....it's pretty forgiving. Got a customer's 413 Cross Ram '61 300G convertible Chrysler that I'm talking into coming. Working on a 429SCJ for another customer's '70 Torino right now. I think he's gonna "get the bug" by September. :3gears: I might even be able to convince my neighbor to bring his 383 Formula S Barracuda that he's putting together right now.

Would you Mopar guys help Casey work on the guy with the 300? I'd really like to see that run. I love different, we still need some early Pontiac tri-powers, A J-2, A Fury, a D500, the boss 302 and maybe a good Z28.:TU:

I'm putting together a 68 Firebird 400 HO. Probably won't make Martin (except to spectate) but plan on running at Stanton.

Bill @ QC Coatings just called and said my D-Port long branches are done so hopefully I can get the new exhaust (probably Pypes single x-flow) on in the next few weeks. Also need to get the Q-Jet and starter rebuilt. Any local MI recommendations?

Overall, it won't be real pretty OR fast but at least presentable and (hopefully) functional.

I'm building a 70 Skylark with the 315hp 350 to hopefully have done by Stanton, I doubt I'll make Martin with it.
This is a low dollar holler, very old paint, not a show car, and never will be. I'll do my best to polish it up and make it presentable. With the way my job has been the last few years, there is no money left for restoration of body and paint, along with the rest of the car.

    Seth,

You have a plethora of A12 knowledge running around on the board. They go good! See you at the races.

Super clean and shiny paint doesn't make them go any faster.

Thanks Jim, I have helped Dave Watt a little the last 2 years at Stanton.I realize though, that unless I get some track time before hand,I'll probably have first timer teething problems.I'll be happy to break into the 14's at Stanton.

WHAT!?!?! Doesn't EVERYBODY know about "Martin" or "Stanton"??

    Shawn:
"Martin" would be in reference to US131 Dragway in Martin, MI just north of Kalamazoo on US131. That would be the "season opener" for the F.A.S.T./FS races which you can read more about at www.fastraces.org .

"Stanton" refers to the Pure Stock Muscle Car Drag Races (PSMCDR) held at Mid-Michigan Motorplex near Stanton, MI. Actually, the track is located in McBride, MI. The locals refer to it as "racing at McBride's". This event will be held on Friday/Saturday Sept 12-13. Read more about these two and any other Pure Stock/F.A.S.T. related events in the stickied events post at the top of this forum here: http://www.v8buick.com/showthread.php?t=145565

Sorry Frank, but Martin is not the start of the season. If you are on the East coast, you have Cecil county and Lebanon Valley. If you are in the midwest, you have the www.musclecarreunion.com in St. Louis. These are all before Martin!!!

I was just counting on both of my hands (and toes) the states from which people have told me they will be attending the St. Louis event for FAST and F/S. Currently, I am counting 11 states and I need to get hold of the boys from Kentucky (attn. Don Harbor)!!! This should be an excellent event!!!!:beer

:idea2: Hopefully, people develop a better attendance record than you have at Stanton and Martin!

    Ouch

I would like to think I will have my yellow 71 Super Bee done by then.It will be powered by a 440 six pack with a auto on the column.I know the six pack is over played but that is the way it is.Somebody will have to show me how to drive it.Having only two pedals makes me scared

Hopefully I'll have my barracuda ready for Stanton. Still a lot of work to do. Just got the block and crank to the machine shop to see if any good. Won't make it on the current motor. And its anybody's guess how long the machine shop will take.

    For Donny,

I may live in the same state, but it is still a 4 hour drive for me to make it to St. Louis (yes, that is at 65-70 mph):blast:

    For Brian,

Sorry I missed your call last night. Just putting the little guy down. For the record, I have attended a race in Michigan (with my car) for the past 5 years (Martin '03,'06,'07) Stanton ('04,'05). Get your trailer hitched up and follow Dave H. down. Its all flat land coming down to St. Louis!!!!:spank:
