I've considered the aluminum panels just for the ease of putting them up an storing them. Right now I have 18 sheets of plywood in my garage taking up space. The lani portion of the back of the house is all windows and it took 8 full sheets of 4x8 plywood to cover it. Luckily I built a lot of tree houses back in the day. Neighbor down the street from me who has the largest model home built in my subdivision told me he was priced 71k for hurricane windows. .... which probably puts mine in the 50k range since I have a smaller house.
Oh boy, here we go again. I think it’s interesting that there is actually nothing but a low pressure system right now, and all the hurricane models are predicting a subtropical or tropical storm by Wednesday. Rain rain go away come again another day
You have all the luck. We could really use a couple days of steady rain up here. been dry for 3 weeks+
This is Dave Henderson from WFUP. The cone of the storm has not changed a whole lot although it has barely moved a little bit further westward, or in land on Florida at this time. This storm is going to be interesting because I don’t think it will become a tropical named storm, but rather a subtropical storm. The wind field on this storm is quite enormous. It is literally hundreds of miles away from us, and it is getting quite windy already. I don’t think it’s going to be anything close to a hurricane, but it is definitely going to be several days of very windy weather with lots of storms in bedded in it. My son and I were out west at the bottom part of Lake Okeechobee in the swamp with a bunch of friends with air boats today. Normally it is without a breeze or any wind in the middle of the state. It was quite windy there, and when we got back home to the East Coast it is even windier. Interesting.
Good morning storm fans... I was wrong. The "blob" of low pressure is now a named storm. Her name is Nicole. Unfortunately, the only Nicole I know is one crazy Be atch! I hope this young lady is not the same. Our local TV meteorologist is saying this stormy lady will pay us a visit on Wednesday and Thursday. They're predicting 3 to 5 inches of rain, and wind gusts up to 70 MPH. Then the TV lady ended with her prediction of Nicole possibly becoming a Cat. 1 before she hits us. Great, more branches to pick up. (Sarcasm!)
Dang Doc, you gotta help me this morning because I’m a little slow. Is this the guy that lost all the cars in Southwest Florida? I’m guessing so. What did the owner of the shop call them? Dang it, I can’t remember. Spoiled little brats.
So I’ve been thinking about this impending storm. I am definitely no Spooner, and I worked my butt off for everything I have. Right now two of my favorite toys are my Sandrail and my go cart. They are right underneath this gigantic jacaranda tree that does not do well in storms. I think the first thing I’m going to do is move them someplace safer in my backyard. Just last week, on a very calm day, a gigantic branch fell out of the jacaranda tree. They are so weak they can’t even support their own branches on a regular day. Definitely going to move my toys away from it!
Tom, I’m shaking my head with a big smile. If you saw how much **** I have in the backyard you would be amazed. I actually have never seen that tree drop a big branch for no reason like I did last week. I moved them in front of my carport. Normally I like to keep that drive open so I can get the convertible in and out. Don’t think I’ll be taking any convertible rides in the next few days
