I should add to the story but a bunch of people were around. So we’re over my buddies garage watching the 4 o’clock news. The weather guy shows an 11 over western Bahamas and then 11 when it hits our shores I couldn’t get my phone out fast enough to get the 11 when it was over the Bahamas, but I think it’s gonna intensify to maybe even a 15?
Looks like here in NY we will get what left of the storm Fri/Sat. Forecasting 2-4 inches of rain. We can use it.
We were supposed to have a vets day parade Friday morning and I got selected to have a WW2 vet ride with me through the parade route in the Riv. Last yr I drove the Cat and the old guy really liked it. Probably get rained out
Yes, this particular thread is about hurricanes which tend to affect some of the members here. There are also plenty of Buick threads if that’s what you’re looking for.
In case you’re wondering, it’s a pretty boring day right now. I don’t think the action will start until around 9 PM tonight. I don’t like night storms. I’d like to see what’s happening not just hear it. Allan, did you read all 19 pages and just figure out that it’s about hurricanes, and not really Buicks. Too funny. I’ll make it about Buicks. Yesterday I secured the car cover onto my convertible parked out back in the carport. Then I put a harbor freight tarp over the top of my Buick and tied it down very well. Last night we had the garage door open because the wind was blowing out of the north west. We all leaned against the back end of my 69 Buick Skylark and drank beer. We will probably do the same thing tonight.
I listened to the news about the storm on a factory AM/FM Delco radio while driving my Buick yesterday. May do it again today. Patrick
Maybe you should start a new thread for Nicole? My Buick has never seen a Hurricane having spent it's life on the Left coast and having only passed through Florida and the eastern Seaboard.
I'll make sure my garage door is closed to protect the Buick and keep it dry tomorrow. Looks like we're gonna get a lot of rain.
John, unless something happens really soon this is the most boring hurricane I’ve ever seen. I actually got extra ready for this one. I called BS! I’m going to have a bunch of small branches down in the yard tomorrow, but I don’t think too much of what’s going on. I am wearing a raincoat. In about an hour or two something is supposed to happen. I’ll post a picture of the radar. So exciting
Here it is, radar in all its glory. The orange and red blob should hit us in about an hour. I can’t wait. I could be asleep by then. I’ve seen way more powerful thunderstorms
The storm is at 26.6 lat., and 78.5, Lon., heading 270° due west. That is a hair lower than my 26.85, and due east of my 80.1. They, the national hurricane Center, said it was going to turn northwest. It’s going to have to do it really really fast or I’m going to get hit by it in about one hour. So awesome! The center is filled with dry air. In fact the whole backside of it is filled with dry air. Every storm is different, and they’re saying that this weekend we’re going to have an awesome cold spell. Nice sunny weather without sweating.
