I was lucky enough to puschase a 70 GSX recently from Boston GSX. It is an original California car and real 4 speed. Herb was up to his eyebals in projects so we worked a deal with my 71 going to Herb. The car sat in a midwestern shop for year sand Herb brought it to Mass and started the resto. After sitting for years it is my turn to put all the bins full of parts back together.. The body and floor boards on this car are real nice and the frame is so good most of us in the Northeast can only dream of one this good. I mean there is not one pit anywhere in the frame...The car is not matching numbers but it does have a 70 GS455 4 speed that came with the car. I also have a Stage-1 455 being built now with date code matching head and intake. Even the block is date correct..The frame needed a re-paint and detail so I decided to take it off the frame again. Dan at Gautreaus Auto restoration in Exeter NH is handling the duties.
If you want to know the meaning of terror. Try watching one of the most valuable cars on the planet hanging by 4 straps. ........................It all went well and got bolted to the rottiserie. The worst that happend is we both got showered with Hydraulic fluid when the rottiserie pump blew the filler plug.
This is the compressor from auto zone I used to remove the front springs. Best one I have used yet. Do not use the large crows foot. remove the c clip and leave just the thickest washer...Check out my safety cable. Not sure if it would work in a mishap but I think it would.
Correct, Vin was found clearly stamped in frame. Only part is shown. Also frame part numbers and date codes where there.
Judging by the squashed out rubber bumpers this car made some hard launches. Also another number found stamped in the frame. This frame is the most perfect smooth I have ever seen. Crazy.
Frame is heading off to be painted. It is on the fast track to be reassembled. Plans are for a concourse look. All clips etc. will be correct colors etc.
Your restoring a taxi cab?? Thaat spring compressor is a knock off of a Snap On WA-92. I have one and it is one of the best spring compressors there is.
Actually ball joints already replaced. I have another perfectly restored set ready to go in...Jason there are plans for a meter in the back....I actually got another spring compressor from a Camaro supplier which has a longer rod and thick aluminum plate that goes under the lower control arm and bolts to the shock holes. May be good to put sprins in?
Frame came home today and is freshly painted. Started assembly already. Pictures are of bare naked frame. Don't get too exited.
