Just checked the running and driving with the rev limiter removed. The coil or something is cutting power out at WOT around 35-4200 rpm

Had a little free time, did a thing that I think looks nice

I replaced the coil, cap, and rotor with a DUI Ignition piece, and if anything it breaks up worse at 3500 than it did before. I am almost certain it is not fueling, because I can wind out the speedometer a little in top gear, where load is greatest, sort of like a dyno brake, and there is no stuttering or bullshittery.

However, if I downshift into first and then put the switch pitch in HIGH when I floor it, it comes right up to 3500 and begins to miss like Hellen Keller playing darts.

I'm thinking the module is the only thing left that is gacked, and I have one on the way that will be replacing it.

That was the culprit when I dynoed my 470. Nice and smooth up to that point and then started missing. Swapped out the module and presto strong all the way thru the rpm range

Alright, I didn't expect this coming, but I've seen a great deal on a local 6.0 LS with a 6L80e with the necessary conversion kit to mount it in the Riviera. I'm really getting tired of adjusting the choke, screwing with the carb, and want some easy computer controlled fuel injection. It's sitting in the parts yard until I grab it with my stepfather's truck this weekend, but by the time Corona passes, I'll have a 6.0 LS Riviera, and great highway gears to go with it.

    Some big things to change:
    Another list:
    1. Engine mounts
    2 hours
    2. Fuel system
    5 hrs
    3. Headliner?
    3 hrs
    4. trans controller program
    4 hrs?
    5. Mount tranny and engine in car together
    6 hrs

This is just a small start, but I really want that overdrive gear and even more power to make this thing a comfortable cruiser and even faster racer!

Looks like you can make it all wheel drive with that as well!

Correct! I was inspired by another member of the board with his All Wheel Drive Skylark, and I'm getting ambitious. I think it can be done on a Riviera. Worst case, I just remove the transfer case.

Yeah, those Rivs are big enough you may be able to graft a 4X4 front suspension on it!

You gonna part the 430 out, sell it and the trans whole or just shelf them both for just incase you sell the car later on?

Probably gonna hold on to it, unless I get a good deal on parting it out, not sure yet. At least I have time to decide

That's a big undertaking John. That 6.0 will not make the torque of a BBB, not without some boost.

That's certainly true, but first I want to get it nicely cammed up and running, and then later I'll be able to make the decision to turbo it or not.

Anyways lol, I wish I had such good and funny news as before. I’ve now swapped the HEI module, the HEI cap and coil, and am still getting a break up around 3500 rpm.

    What gives?

What kind of wires do you have? Are you absolutely sure that the firing order is correct? Check the simple stuff.
