The above is a PG 260 starter, I believe Bob Ortalani commented about that on page 2. He said the PG 260 is supposed to be a better starter, but the PG 250 has less problems.

I am currently using the Robb Mc starter. Installed it this past fall. So far so good.

I used 2 pieces of stainless wire, wrapping around the starter front and back.
The velcro seemed too weak. The wire secures the blanket over the starter housing.

So would this be the starter to get for the BBB?

That's not the starter-to-engine mounting arrangement I would have expected. Is this a "real" photo of that part number, or a generic photo for that part number?

Yup, THAT looks right for bolting to a Buick or Chevrolet V-8 block.

So you like the PG250 better than the PG260? Remy is pushing the PG260 for the 10MT replacement. After almost 30 years with my original 10MT starter, it just started giving me trouble when it was hot. Once it cooled down it started right up. Yes I have Kenne Bell headers on the car. So I figured that since I have to replace the starter now, I might as well get the newer style smaller starter.

Help??? I need to know what car this starter was installed on that had the red wire to the solenoid. I am having trouble getting the right part number. O'Reilly is my closest parts store. The starter I bought is off a 1995 Roadmaster wagon but the solenoid is not correct

It's a mini starter, the solenoid is smaller. What specifically are you having a problem with? The stock starter often had 3 connections, one big, two small. The mini starter may only have 2 connections, one big, one small. No red wires to the starter solenoid stock, other than the + battery cable and main feed wires. The smaller wires were purple (S) and yellow (R).

My problem is as you stated my 1970 starter had 3 wires to the solenoid the new mini has two. What do I do with the two small wires?? In reading the posts I took the R wire to mean red, looking at my harness they are as you say purple and yellow. Do they both go to the small terminal on the solenoid???

    Thanks Jim

Are you still running points? If not, you don't need the yellow wire.
