A rumor is going around that a certain '68 bird that came from PA, then lived in Rochester and now will reside in PA again had a succesful first outing.

How fast was Wednesday night at Stanton? Fast enough to trailer the Judge, Bruno's best RA IV, Dan's HO and the RA II birds that have come before.

It has all the above covered with ease and it was only the first try.

I was told today in no uncertain terms that this particular car will do what is need to prove its correctness.

Pump it, sure. Cert it, Dan already went through the motor to check it out the day before it got strapped to the dyno. And after the race this fall they are willing to pull the intake etc. for all who want to see.

They want to know what a bore scope will show but are willing to bring the one they own if it helps.

It is a PS car not a FAST car.

Secondly if you understand NHRA/IHRA history no one should be surprised at what can be achieved with a RA II. My friend owns the RA II Bird that set the NHRA B Stk class record the first week it was new at Indy that year. Not only set the record but won Indy. What did the RA II displace as the record holder if I remember correctly it was a RA I bird.

Or look at it this way. The Judge has nearly a full point of compression left in it by the rules, it has all the factory installed equipment still including 100% of the sound deadening, radio, console etc. It is hardly a serious effort as it still has its shipped from the factory shocks on it. Now take a RA II bird that is pushed and thought out in every manner. A car weighting 400+ lbs less than the Judge with a more aggressive per the rules engine tune more aero and lastly throw in a superior auto trans and it is not surprising that the car can move out quickly.

Is he NHRA BS stock rules or the Pure stock NHRA Guideline ones we all played with?

Does it run offset ground cranks, custom rod lengths ,super cool certified pistons, generation 6 or 12 ram air Jen- Way custom cam, Kilgor transmission?
Anymore it's getting harder to believe NO matter who looked at it !!

Glad to hear it runs good, Fun to watch -hard to take serious
Sorry to be the pesimist, but lately this sports leaving a bad taste.

Jeremy I guess their point is who needs a bore scope when your willing to take the parts off. Plus it does not show bore/stroke and other items that matter in PS racing.

Tim it does not have a JW Racing cam. Just as I run Mellings in the Pontiacs that will be running quickly and may need to be cert'd. They have choosen also to not run a JW Racing cam.

It is built to Dan and Bob's PS rules not "BS" NHRA rules. No NHRA specialty heads like are rumored on some cars.

Yes it does have an offset crank grind of 13 thou.

We owned the car to do exactly what they have done as it has seemed to be the best opportunity to go very quick in a Pontiac. It has the right parts, body and weight to help it achieve more than we have seen from Pontiacs in the past. Since they were able to and desired to accomplish the build quicker than we could we let the car go for just such a purpose.

The car may have great potential and be fast already but there is still always a pecking order to these cars. And RA II's in both NHRA and PS racing have always been way towards the front. Just ask Jim Mino, Tony Goodman or Truman Fields. As I recall as a mere HS and college student Bob K and Jim were torturing everyone in MCR PS races. If my memory serves me correctly Jim was the first PS car in the 12's about 25 years ago. And if people play in a reasonable (honest per the rules) manner the pecking order will always come to roost.

I personally think it is great that Rick (and all others who have done the same) has changed his love of the show field with his truly amazing cars Scott has built to our venue. I appreciate the fact he is willing to invest so much effort and time to come add to our race. Rick has been flying into MI religuously on weekends to help build this car. He is not just having it built but supplying plenty of hard earned equity. Like all of us who have been bit by the PS racing bug it adds flavor to our venue that we are all here putting in the effort to enjoy the best weekend in the hobby.

    Tim....Tim.....

Just because they are Pontiac people, how could a bullet quick Pontiac built by the P/S tech director and sanctioned by one of the P/S organizers give you a bad taste?

I just don't see it.

Why do so many automatically assume that any new car or a car with good potential is cheating? Why is it that long before anyone has even seen the car it is accused of miss doing?

I for one would like to see this type of stuff end. I find it uncommonly poor. Particularly as the car and the people involved have never been caught doing anything that was not correct. Why do certian camps get so upset when another camp has success? Is it the beautiful trophy girls admiration turning from them? Is it the Wally? Is it the multi-million dollar pay outs for winning a shootout? Does it create more fun and harmony?

Bench racing is fun, but accussing others of ill will is another. Or can I assume those who cast about the most are harbouring guilt over their own builds? Could it be that one who cheats assumes all others must cheat to achieve the same?

Not exactly the best way to welcome a new comer who is pouring his heart and dollars into participating in our venue.

I know, I know for many of you/us it really is all in good spirit and humor. But I hear so much of this in the parking lot that takes on a different tenor and hear the rumors come back around on way to many cars. Most of which no one really knows the truth on.

I also get the irony that I was the one who actually started the pot stirring here with this thread...

    Just my little rant.

Guys,68 RA2 birds have been fast forever,no news flash. If Scott says it will pass tech, then i for one believe him.I think it is great to have another dedicated show car guy come over and join the race.I cant wait to see the car,and any other new cars that show up.

    Got it !!

I run CPT cams. They can be confused with Casey's Performance Technologies.

I just refer to them as Casey's Plow Truck cams.
