Shhhhh! Judges might be lurking! As far as the PS hoses, I haven't seen Jay Cook to hand them over yet. Hopefully, he'll be going to E-town Labor Day for the Buick event and I can get them to him then. I'll get in contact with him and let you know. Even if he isn't going I'll bet one of the LI boys will see that he gets them safely.
Typewriter will be ready end of this week. Test will be run soon. After test I will ask for money orders so I can order these. I do not want to order too many as the good decals are expensive to buy. Will post the results as soon as they are ready.
The hard part will be to not make a mistake while typing. I've gotten so used to the soft touch and using the backspace on computers that I can't type on a manual typewriter without making a mistake about every tenth letter.
Where the heck did you find a place that repairs typewriters these days? Anyway, looking forward to your first example! :beer
Typewriter is repaired. I have a real good repair shop not far from me and he tells me he still does a pretty good business. This typwriter was state of the art in its day and has pretty soft touch. I am pleased with the way it came out. It will go on my car. Let me know what you think.
All numbers are almost exact. They are a hair taller than original at less than 1/64" difference. Unless next to original you cannot tell. As far as the letters go they are a bit different as they have "feet". I actually found another typeface without it but changing it midstream messes up the type so this is as good as it gets. This will be more of an issue for 72 guys as there are more letters. ..........The first few digits are a bit darker because the nylon ribbon was very new but is now more uniform. ............ This is the decal I chose out of the two best I have found. Neither is exact to GM but I guess they do this for trademark reasons.
OK, everyone payment will be $20 even with a self addressed stamped envelope with one stamp. I will wait two weeks to order all the decals as several hundred dollars are involved with ordering the blanks. After two weeks I will order first batch. If you are late I will still order more for second batch. Let me know EXACTLY how and where date should be printed. I can only do what you tell me if you have your original to go by. If not I will make the same as mine as this is how most Flint cars were. For 72 cars make sure you include all the other GVWR stuff. . For the date check your Data tag or original decal. E week cars often have the next month on the decal. That is how I have seen them. Sometimes D week carried over to next month as well. Do not forget to include VIN. Double and triple check it. I have to eat my mistakes not yours so check yours good. I will destroy all VIN info after. I do not want it. I only take money orders as not set up for Paypal. Minimal profit here as it is. Post office money orders are a buck.
