as a follow up to tim's post, in case someone needs some specific info, i have *the* original technical guide from maple grove, which has all of the *original* tech sheets/bulletins from each/every nhra legal combo up until the late 70s...and, ive just about anything else the nhra has ever put on paper as well.

:Do No: We are trying to use the math to get to a compression ratio so that we can check it with the wistle, we do not check for the correct piston.:Do No:

    :idea2: :idea2: :idea2: :idea2:

Well right there is a conumdrum, Tell you what I'll put up $500.00 cash to supply the gaskets ,materials ,oil, coolant ,water, canolies.... and he can certify the Old Fashion way. Show up one head off ,check dome volumn, inspect heads, intake , carbs, exhaust man., Cam ,etc.etc. etc.

Just an offer, or run the whole event and tear down after like Terry did a few years ago. This option would avoid any chance of errors or loss of ET!

I'm not going to yell ,just offering easy solutions.

what is the difference, when they find domed pistons in a pontiac, or a hemi with too much compression, or traction control via digital boxes, small torque converters, wrong transmissions, roller rockers, double pump carbs, electric fuel pumps, etc etc they dont do anything about it, so who cares, run what ya brung, eat drink, bull**** and have fun.

I always thought that if we had a perfect weather forecast, there would be close to 200 cars.Well last year was perfect, and i think car count was down slightly?,and the stands on Saturday did not appear to be nearly as full.Is it really a good idea to run people off? I know Dan and Bob do this for the love of the hobby, but i dont think they want to start losing money. It is what it is,boys.Just have fun. While i have tried to discipline myself from saying too much on here, heres another thought,Pro Tree. All these redlights suck for the competiters, and the spectators! I hate winning or losing on a redlight, and takes the excitement out of the race. I also hope that if i ever get accused of cheating, that there is a pic as good as Bob K,s,that is awesome!!

That's exactly the problem- They won't do anything TO Worried about hurting peoples feelings. If there's no difference between FAST and pure stock anymore .Who cares if the race dies! Fast will just put one on to take it's place then. And We still get to party and drink beer .

THAT is what the FAST class is for,THAT is why people are upset.
    yup!!

It is simple and all this posturing and arguing is a waste of time. If Bob`s motor is legit he can prove it to everyone with certification. And now it is free with Timmy`s offer. He shows up or tears down after the race and is legit it is a huge dish of sit down and Shut Up to everyone.

Tom Cannon is already betting it is not Dome Volume "I'm not kidding. You guys are referring to Bobs little whistle test? That crazy little music maker measures domes too? Alot of talk I didn't realize he had a cylinder head off He must have though, how else could you all be so sure he's bogus?

What do you really know? I'm betting it isn't dome volume. How could you?"

Sounds like even he is suggesting taking the head off ..

Bob can make everyone posting here look like fools ..

I don't want to chase anyone off..........

I'd just like for them to, um, I don't know, follow the f'n rules ??

is it really that freaking hard to do ?

you build you car right, you run it, you drink beer and have fun, and you go home,

but no, some guys have to win to all costs and they put Dan and Bob in a horrible situation of having to police among friends...... and that is what sucks.

how in the hell can you claim to love this event and then blatently cheat and hide behind a long freindship with Dan and Bob. I don't get it. It's bull$hit.

John are you saying that the rules are arbitrary and it's about the car count?

I could care less if it's dome, head, what ever. I just want to see and end to all this. He can put in what ever motor he wants for this year, If it don't run and duplicate the numbers and certify it's all moot. The time was when we checked him.

If all you guys want is a party- we could do that a lot cheaper than spending ridiculous money on bogus parts ,ignoring rules, and just rolling with it. Hell Morgan can hook us up with the booze,I'll bring 2 kegs ,Theres always enough food- we can send this girl off right.

If you can't respect the race and it's rules, don't come or race fast.
I could care less about the car count, I didn't start doing this to make people money .I did it because I loved what it was -not what it has become.

I guess the event died in 2001 when several guys were sent home..........

we just keep showing up oblivious to that fact.

John, you can look at the 2009 weather and say 200 cars should have been there, but expalin the 2008 weather and 110 cars showing up with 100% chance of rain.

and I think about 12 guys asked for a refund......

this is my last post on this subject, starting the hemi build tonight. If you go on the nhra website under products approved for competion and look at page 26 under 426 66-71, you will find the list of the 5 approved pistons, call each supplier and you will find they are all different. The piston you should be concerend with is the CP part number M9-cp. One more point of clarification, you must be able to look at the rules and policies hand book that only the tech inspectors have available to them for checking motors. In the stock class they specify the piston can stick out of the cylinder no more than .536, with no dome spec.

I would think you could find the CP part number on a piston if you looked down with a bore scope.

Now dont start lipe beating me, I am done with this, I dont even have a dog in this fight, not yet. Where can if buy CP pistons from?who has their number?

What kind of booze do guys want!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

here is the rule we are arguing about :

Engine: Must be factory correct for the year, model, and horsepower claimed. Dealer installed engines and dealer performed engine modifications are not allowed. Casting numbers must be correct for the year and horsepower claimed including intake manifold, heads, and exhaust manifolds. Modifications are prohibited. Blocks do not have to be "numbers-matching," but they must be the correct displacement. Overbores up to .070" are allowed. Stock cranks only. NO strokers! Random P&G checks are possible. No lightweight cranks, connecting rods, or pistons allowed. Pistons must be of the original design for the year and horsepower claimed.
Replacement forged pistons are allowed as long as they do not increase compression.
Torque straps are allowed. No after-market blocks allowed.

the blueprint specs are what we are suposed to be held to for measurement specs only...
nothing else the NHRA does means diddily squat......
the blue print specs HAVE A DOME VOLUME for EVERY MOTOR.

if your CP piston increases the compression, IT IS ILLEGAL....... you do not get to pick your compression based on what the NHRA does today.

    TA-DA !!!
If it's run what ya brung, whats to stop me from bringing my 9.90 class 13.1 long rod , roller cammed 509 with AFR heads and headers?

    The rules...

The video of the first certified race at the banquit room , Dan himself says this- we are meerly using the NHRA tech for reference only. By no means are we adopting there rules.

I to am done with this. Fix it or kill it. I don't care.

Just let me know what race to show up to pure stock/ fast light / fast
