No primer, I just sanded them well and painted them (close your ears” ) Chevrolet Orange.
Kinda looked close to the old ad

This one has much less red in it but looked good to & available from NAPA so that was my base coat but they only had two cans.
The final “redder” coat came from Auto Zone “Chevrolet Orange” be careful they have two different Chevy “Oranges” I used the lighter which I believe was part # 1933 (Edit “SP119 for my top coat).

I used the VHT from Autozone on my exhaust manifolds. Used their engine high temp primer and top coat. 3 years so far, and they still look nice.

Good to get something done Fritz! Dont wanna rain on your parade but the 500* paint is gonna burn as soon as you fire that bad boy off. I have tried every over the counter paint and mail order do it at home coating and and every single one eventually burned off or rusted through. Finally I did the heat wrap on the Regals headers and they are rusting from the inside out Picked them up off the shelf to install after sitting a yr and probably 2 cups of rust flakes poured out on the ground. Oh and done be worried about the Chevy orange / red paint. I looked at that a few days ago when picking up something to paint the Riv's 430 as I putting it back together. BTW I didnt do it over night but not 18 months either, like the last one.

I am with ya Briz, definitely will burn off, but I won't drive it all the time like I did when younger and I figured since this is supposed to be a day 2 kinda car that this is exactly what I would have used on the headers. No high dollar ceramic coating (regardless how nice) and a few months down the road if I feel like touching up the burned and discolored areas I will just spray some paint in the can top and touch them up with a brush.
If I keep trying to make things perfect I will never get to drive it. Hell even going old school I may never get behind the wheel of a GS again but if I cut through all my own OCD & as many have said just work a little bit at a time, maybe, just maybe I will get this car and myself back on the road again. THAT would be a GREAT day : )
Anyhow I am totally whooped, time to take my meds & get a good nights sleep.
Thank you everyone for the kind words and suggestions : )

Night my Buick brothers & Sisters.

Took all freakin day to find the paint and activator and every other single roadblock was thrown at me but it was a beautiful day,the TV survived without me being GLUED to it,and I got my newly machined cylinder heads(thank you Eric!) in high temp primer and later got it topped off with the ceramic infused Buick red paint & popped a couple picture JUST before the pink & blue sky winked out.
Wore out from all the stuff that had to be moved around etc & hurrying but it was a good day & I will sleep very well!

Will put my factory 70 Stage 1’s with “$1600 worth of 1970’s porting & polishing!” on later when I can afford to send all my goodies to GreatScat when I can swing it (was nice speaking with you today Gary & glad you are doing well,Sir!

Any step by steps on getting the Super Scavenger headers on the drivers side with factory style 4-speed would be greatly appreciated before I attempt that!
Motor mounts already unbolted and whole front clip is off but these are never a breeze to do without a lift or garage like here so I need all the good tricks please lol

Without the heads on the header may slide right in there with little to no problem.

That’s what I was hoping too AT LEAST on the passenger side with all a/c parts removed along with cylinder head but it is hanging up super tight on the bellhousing starter housing and the tail end of starter itself just as it goes into the bell housing and that is with the motor fully jacked up till transmission is up against the trans tunnel. And that SHOULD have been the easy side. This was attempting going collector in and down instead of trying from below but the car isn’t up high enough yet to try and stab them through from underneath the car.
I might have to try and get my forklift back in service and lift the whole mess up and block it or SOMETHING but those mutherz ARE going in there!:)
    Adapt,improvise, OVERCOME!:confused::cool::mad:

Okay, intake is very clean but needs a matching Buick Red paint job. The hard prep work is already done (thanks again Eric!)
Now I need to remember what heat riser holes to plug in case I switch to my B4B. Was only 17 years old when I watched Chamberlain plug the ones on my sleeper Wildcat.
MAN HE MADE THAT SUCKER FLY! Two piece driveshaft and would boil 1st gear as long as you wanted and would hit a MEAN 2nd and even bark 3rd gear with five people in it. Just one slightly larger single exhaust, road wheels ,fender skirts, bench seat and sucked up a BUNCH of unknowing victims heh heh! Thanks John boy!

Yep time to haul the wire cart up here and fix all this rigging! That’s OK I’m still having fun and thank God I had a crazy Micromanaging German father and Perfectionist World War II vets I apprenticed under Who would never let this crap fly. OK back at it ! these damn Mickey Thompson’s are going on here today at least one side I will except nothing less!

THIS is why I don’t like working in rubber gloves especially with a wire wheel around! It grabbed my gloves and walked up to me on high speed and then when I reverse the drill it walk the other direction! LOL

    Scar?No! Free tattoo!!!
