a circle track car. no need for anything too awful nice on something like that. also, should be cheaper as whoever has one should be looking to throw it away.
Found some more relics on the latest trip, but no Buick pics yet. Next time. Even found a low mileage '65 Skylark moredoor-54K original miles. I grabbed a few parts and will get the rest on the next trip. In a Maryland yard was this rare '69 Mercury Marauder X-100. Even had the rare Kelsey Hayes wheels. Sitting nearby with lots of vegatation engulfing it was a '55 Bel Air 2dr hardtop. I'll have pics of it soon.
NOTHING is toast - I have heard it said that if the dream is big enough, then the facts don't count. I have seen stuff a LOT worse that the Centurion saved and returned to their former glory - and by guys who had never welded a panel in or done any major body work at all. Even with some external rust, that convertible looks to be a worthwhile project, especially given it's rarity. Glass is an easy fix - and put some windows back in that car and get some air in the tires and get it out of it's surroundings and suddenly, it will look so much better. Trust me, the surroundings that a car is sitting in can either make it look far worse than it is or a whole lot better. Even if you don't think that you can save the car, it would be worthwhile buying it if the price is affordable and if nothing else, getting it into the hands of someone who will fix it. It would be a real shame to see a car like that parted out - there are far better candidates for the donor role than that one. At least that is my opinion.
I love the pics, but it does make me angry seeing the rare cars sitting there. I love the photo of the cutlass leaving the grave yard though. :beers2:
The Centurion is in a yard near Kent Island. I'll be there during the week and try to get it out of there. I have glass to fit it other than windshield, but can get a new one for $160.
No Kyle, just the rust free one I have for my '72 Stage1 car. I'll keep a lookout, though. Always do! I just got a boneyard '67 Electra in for parts. A long sitting 64K mile 4dr. I'll be removing the good running engine/trans. The rest is up for grabs.
It is from Michigan originally and has rust out/bondo. But not severely. A hot battery and gas it started right up after being parked for a couple of years. Trans jumped into gear and has a brake pedal. The gas tank is held in with wire but not leaking. I am just after the eng/trans. Has a title, too.
The 55 was found in PA? I would be very interested in some of the body parts or even the whole car............could you share where in PA?
There is a couple of '55's at E Z Pull and Save in New Ringold. There is another one in a yard in Gettysburg. It is a yellow 2dr and looks darn good. I will get a card from them and forward their info. I'll be up that way soon. The 4dr is in a yard near Centerville Md. It is on Rt 213. Name? Got to look it up again. I will be checking a lead on a yard in York that is filled with oldies.
A co-worker would be interested in the '69 Marauder. Can you tell me if the drivetrain is in it yet and yard's name/number and location? ...In a Maryland yard was this rare '69 Mercury Marauder X-100. Even had the rare Kelsey Hayes wheels...
I talked to my friend at that yard and the Marauder X100 is spoken for by a friend of his. If that changes, I'll post here. That yard just got 30 CLUNKER cars in and a couple dozen more to go and they are some very nice late models. It amazes me some of the nice stuff people throw away. There were a couple of '05-'06 Jeep Liberty 4X4's, a '05 Toyota Sienna van with 20K miles, very clean '02 Chevy 1500 Silverado 4X4, '02 Lincoln Navigator, a few clean '99 up S10 Blazers, clean low mile '04 Chrysler mini van, well, you get the picture.
More yard adventures. Found a yard with a couple thousand 50's/60's cars in the middle of nowhere Pa. A real '65 Skylark GranSport ragtop,red/red/white top 4 spd(all of it missing) and the first to be hauled out when I get my truck/trailer fixed/replaced after being plowed by a redlight runner today.
