But isn't that the same cancel culture behavior the conservatives complain about? One man's protest is another man's cancel culture, I suppose.

No, that's called a lack of support. Kinda like not going back to a restaurant that sent you to the toilet for 48 hours. I haven't heard of protests from the right demanding that sports leagues or certain companies discontinue producing their product.

The problem with Cancel Culture is that it has no room for diplomacy or discretion. The CC crowd demands everyone declare his politics and only those who are in lockstep are spared. Those who try to be discrete and polite get chewed up. Much like the virus discussions on here, when people proclaim their positions they run the risk of making enemies when quiet discretion would allow us to enjoy our common ground, but at least they chose to whether or not to wade in. The CCers won’t allow that choice. I’ve seen and heard a lot of young folks who draw lines in the sand (“I can’t be friends with a person who...“type statements), demand to know everyone else’s politics, then react accordingly. They don’t realize, much like Kaepernick, there may be consequences down the road. Loneliness and unemployment come to mind.

It may not be the organizers abilty to band together but more of a testament to the validity of the cause.

I think its more the dumbing down of society and the lack of ability to examine facts.

Chicago had suffered 440 homicides by the end of July, compared to 290 for the same period last year. And more and more of the victims are children.
How many were killed by the police? ZERO
Chicago is not the only city, that the same thing is happening in other areas but in somewhat smaller numbers.

I cant think of a better cause to band together for than at least saving the children, but the only focus is on the Police. BLM is a joke with their current focus.

Why don't they focus on the real problem with loss of Black Lives?
George Floyd was killed by a bad cop, no one is arguing that but 100x more innocent people, most black are being killed by other blacks. Not a word spoken about that problem.

I think it's more who is an individual and who is a follower. Individuals don't band together so well. Followers do.

I did not mention anything about politics. Your statement proves my point, if it were not for the Present "harping" there would be no mention otherwise in the liberal media.

Tell me why the BLM is not focusing on these issues.. Very simple question, nothing political.

O say can you see by the dawn's early light
What so proudly we hailed at the twilight's last gleaming
Whose broad stripes and bright stars through the perilous fight
O'er the ramparts we watched, were so gallantly streaming?
And the rocket's red glare, the bombs bursting in air
Gave proof through the night that our flag was still there...oh say does that star-spangled banner yet wave o'er the land of the free and the home of the brave…;)

My Father was a WWII Veteran and a bad alcoholic who was especially bad when on the whiskey. It wasn't the leave it to Beaver childhood. I credit Military Service for giving me direction in my life. I also wish there was 1 year mandatory Service requirement. Service "Person" would go thru a 20 week enhanced basic training including GED and basic life skill training, hygiene, cooking, cleaning, financial responsibility, time management, physical fitness, proper nutrition, basic work skills, no weapons training. The rest of the year, minor work training and work details for the rest of the mandatory year. Only a small monthly stipend, no GI benefits. At the end of the year they owe the U.S. nothing and the U.S. owes them nothing. At the end of the one year they have the option to "try" and join the Regular Service and if they have preformed well the Service has the option to let them join for the "normal" enlistment. It would make them a better person than they were either way. Jmo.

I was referring to the aforementioned "Pledge of Elegance", not "Allegiance".
