I guess I should update my "other car" ... since its winter time and this year I went with different rims
here's my other toy... Just got this one after my poor Ford Fairmont got rear-ended and totaled a few weeks back...
older cavs are full of potential, and with ground effects and a range of engines from the quad to the 3.4, stock 16" wheels and some sticky tires, and the right springs, sway bars, ect. will make any ricer run and cry :TU:
Oh Yea. This one is the Rally Sport with the heavier suspension as has the Z-24. It has a 3.1 MFI V6 so needless to say, it gets right up and goes. This car gives my Green Goddess, (64 LeSabre in the background), a run for her money, and belive it when I say that the Green Goddess is no slouch! As far as ricers, it eats them now  I am going to give it cold air induction via hood scoops, and to boost gas milage, I'm going to install a Tornado fuel Saver. I am toying with the idea of either a Supercharger or a Turbo Charger, then lookout! :beer Jim.
I have heard that they do boost milage, but as far as horsepower goes, they do a bit at higher RPM like on the highway. I'll find out soon enough though, and I will let you know what happens. I am getting 26mpg now, let's see what I get when I install the Tornado. Jim.
i would suppose that ...in theory, the idea is a pretty sound one. and especially in the upper rpm range where the most air is moving, the potential for utilizing more air/fuel mix just as in a turbo or blower makes sense...in theory, just like a velocity stack or ram tube. on jim's cav, i am exploring the same changes for my beretta GT. got the ground effects last night [took two UPS guys to get them up to the house, i feel sorry for those UPS guys this time of year], put on the 16" GTZ wheels, installed a strut brace in the engine bay, installed a cold air intake and a bigger cat-back system. am doing some reading on various 'chips' available, everything from eprom chips to simple cold air sensor resistors. all VERY different from the tech i have learned to build up "OLD" hotrods :3gears:
Well, I am a member of a performance Cavalier forum, and according to the guys there, chipping a Cavalier is more or less a waste of time and money. You wind up only getting about .5HP boost, really not worth it. They suggeted cold air, and I came up with trying the tornado.... to see what that does before dropping about $3,600.00 for a Supercharger. I'm not looking to out run my Wildcat Convertible, that is highly unlikely, I just want to feel the power when I step on the gas, and perhaps beat my Green Goddess. Jim.
Charlie's Angels Here is one of my "other" cars. I know, a Ford, but it was my mom's car that she gave to me. She bought it new in 1977. It has 67,000 miles on the original 302 motor and C-4 auto. I always thought Farrah Fawcett came with it.
Valiant Convertible Uhhh darn ! a Valiant in V8 Buick (and a nice one too :TU: ) now I have to post mine. It's a 65 convertible it has a somewhat prepped 318 in it, and a 904 torqueflite with a floorshifter. Mine is one of 2 that was sold new in Denmark in 1965. I like it but now it has to go, to pay for my next project, a 1952 Roadmaster.
99 Sierra Bought this truck a few months ago...took out my first loan for it, 5 years. Needed something for college and this popped up. Just ordered some rims for it tonight, going to do a body lift and exhaust soon as well.
