66 Corvair Yenko Stinger Hi Chris Lee, I love your Yenko Stinger. Is that an exact clone? Do you know how many were made? Did any other dealer the same type of car (like Baldwin/Motion)? More pics please!!!!! :TU:
chirs lee, i never even knew yenko did work with the corvairs. your car looks amazing, if you have more pictures how about posting them too? :TU:
Hi Chris Lee, Since I posted my last remark I talked to a friend who are into Corvairs. He directed me to a Corvair-site showing Stingers so now I know what they look like. I did not know they even made one Stinger Convertible. Your car looks great with American Racing wheels. Nice!!!!
I don't currently own a Buick, as I'm stationed in Japan. This is what I drive over here...'93 Nissan 180SX with a very modified SR20DET, almost 400RWHP & 2,600 Lbs! The engine Over here imports are domestics & domestics are imports! It isn't rice if you can back up your car's appearance with real power! This little car FLIES!
Here's this years winter project...89 Shelby Dakota....only 1500 of these ever made, this is #1030, from what I've seen there were alittle less then 600 white and the rest all red, 318, 4speed auto and 390 posy gear, thing runs strong, she'll get new paint, wheels, and a few mods, I'll be driving this truck every day when the weather is snow free. :TU:
One hint to watch out! Here is one little hard to find thing to watch out for in this car...can anyone tell me why??? (It's a secret)
Yes it's an intercooler  :TU: And yes, I have both a 400+ hp Buick and a 180SX with a large stainless steel exhaust. I have my favorite cars, each one is unique in it's own way. My 180's exhaust is mandrel bent 80mm (~3.25 inch) from the turbo all the way back with no cat converter. It's NOT just a stupid FART CAN welded on the back of a 1 7/8" stock exhaust system like all the posers/ricers in the US. Since the car is a turbo, an exhaust like this is actually NEEDED whereas 90% of the imports in America are NOT turbocharged and don't need much more than a 2" exhaust. Also turbo cars aren't usually as farty sounding because the turbo quiets and changes the exhaust tone down. BTW the red car is faster than my Buick....I spent ~$6000 to get the Buick as fast as it is (14.1) and the red one went 14.3 stock! Bought the car for $1400 and invested about $2500 on the red one and never got to retest it at the track, but it was a lot faster than it's 14.3 run!!! :3gears:
ok, I'll accept that . I still don't get the whole large V8 uses 2 1/2" and a small turbo i-4 uses 3.25" exhaust but I don't know about turbos or stuff like that
jeep here's a shot of my jeep..502 cheby..powerglide..9 in rear..589 gears.. weigh's 1800lbs..lots o' fun :3gears:
Since a turbo relies on exhaust pulses to spin a turbine, unlike a supercharger that relies on a belt attached to the crank, the lower the backpressure behind the turbine vs. in front of it... the easier it is to spin that turbine. Basically you want a lot of hot exhaust pulses flowing rapidly in front of the turbine to get it to spin, and a large place to dump them once they get past the blades, hence the huge exhaust systems.
