Glasgo - Go ahead and run em -IF Bob and DAN say there legal and it's ok for everyone , not just a few. Run em !!! That meeting wasn't a witch hunt -IT WAS suppossed to be about making sure EVERYONE was on the same page. Fair for one , fair for all. NO FAVORITISM FOR ANY BRANDS.
I myself thought it was going to stop the----
    MOPARS get away with this.
    JIMMY Gets away with this
    Pontiac is the LOVE child
This guy has more money so I can do what I want.

any more I don't care !!! I just want them to make a decision and STICK WITH IT!!!!!! One way or another I DON"T CARE .

You piss more people off by waffeling, than a just few people by making a decision and sticking with it.
THEY Answer my 2 questions publicly so theres no second hand confusion and I go away happy.

PS -I've always hated that saying " There's no prize" Almost as much as you hate Brians " Everything does nothing" People don't piss away that much money on stupid lifters and exotic parts for nothin. :dollar: :dollar: :dollar:
There must be a 12 year olds bowling trophy hidden there somewhere for people to dish out this kind of coin lately!!!!!!!

I am SOOOOOO glad that the (2) customer cars that plan on making an appearence this year have standard, schmo, as delivered, shaft mounted rockers. I've got better things to do than bicker over silly stuff. Just keep it STOCK, and there's no issue. :TU: I sleep better at night knowing that I can still run the number(s) without having to run any fancy junk.

Quite honestly, I feel proud that I can say that the ET's and HP that I make are WITHOUT roller rockers while others run 'em. :3gears:

Did someone say smokage ?? ...... [IMG]

Well said Casey(Chuck Mocko). Look, we can modify any musclecar to go fast. There all just air pumps with different sheet metal around them. Unless you own a Corvette. Thought I forgot about you Donny didn't you.

:gp: The PSMCDR currently has 4 cars running with them that have gone 11.50`s or faster, two have ran 11.30`s! "If Dave Dudek builds a car to run even with the top 2 cars he will be ejected right then and there", no tech, no questions asked. :af: If the track conditions and air are near perfect you`ll see these ET`s at Stanton, peroid! Bob K has gone 11.50`s with a far from perfect 60ft, if a guy were to build a Hemi car from the ground up like Jimmy`s, Copo`s, or even Rick`s, maybe build a heater/radio delete car 11.30`s are with-in reach easily, well maybe no easily but it`s not out of the question to think an 11.20 is attainable if you just put Bob`s engine in a different/lighter/more rear overhanged car.

I see your post is from both you and Dan. Your post just backed up what i have been saying all along..

Bob, HAVE I EVER ONCE SHOWED UP AT THE PSMCDR WITH AN ILLEGAL CAR? EVEN ONE SINGLE TIME? HAVE YOU GUY`S EVER POINTED OUT ONE SINGLE THING ON ONE OF MY CARS THAT NEEDED TO BE CHANGED? The answer is NO for all the above. BTW

Not to worry Bob/Dan, the engine i`m building is more of a 113/114mph car, my plans were only gonna take place if this economy picked up.

    Dan and Bob,

First of all, this is a great event and under no circumstance "throw in the towel".

But you are walking a thin line. If you allow roller tip rockers for durability then why not forged pistons, stainless valves, roller cam, headers, and Holley carbs also for durability?
What about the brands that do not have roller tip rockers available? Are we allowed to use full roller rockers?

If durability is an issue for some cars perhaps they have too much cam lift and spring pressure since all these engines were designed to run 100,000 miles with stock valve trains.

    Dave,

Dan and Bob have stated that any PS car that runs below 11.50 will be asked to go home immediately.

In light of what's been allowed in the past to this point ( 2 1/2 inch mandral bent exhaust w/ x-pipes, NHRA compression, Roller tips, MSD boxes ........) I say leave it alone to this point. Most of the cars out there are running one or more of the items listed. I know that as funds are available my sons and I have incorporated some of whats been allowed. Some have made a difference and some, not so much. How the rules got this loose I don't know, but they did. It is what it is. I know, and I speak for the family, that if this gets crazy enough with all the bickering that we are all forced to eliminate whats been allowed up to this point for "factory replacement" items, we will be priced out of a very fun event. Govern where we're at and remember that this is about fun and fellowship and not a national championship. For god's sake even changing the jets changes the way it came from the factory, and it goes from there.......

Not so much drugs - just frustration.
I've defended you guys and the race for ever.

In other posts- people called the meeting a witch hunt ,conspiracy,BLAH BLAH BLAH.. I didn't think it was, I thought it would level the playing field and make sure everyone had to play by the same rules. Just enforcing what we already have.
I already said "I DON'T CARE" just pick one and stick with it.
I wanted an answer and got 2 different answers, from your TECH guy( a few months ago) and DAN at certs. I THOUGHT it would be EASIER to answer than this.
As for throwing in the towel, we told you our feelings and thanked you up and down that night. As to keep threatening to kill the race.
It's your race , do what you feel you have too. But it would probably just be easier on you to say here it is, these are the rules - show up if you want.

    Chris Jones Pit bicycles rule!

    Enough with the whining.

    THE FACTS:
This is Bob & Dan’s race.
They make the rules and they can change the rules.

We, as participants, follow the rules or we don’t race, or you knowingly say to yourself “to hell with the rules” and do what you want and run the risk of getting caught and being asked to leave for not following the rules.

    MY OPINION:
As far as the roller tips go, let them go one more year for the guys who may not have the time or the budget to change them over.

You go quicker than 11.50, you need a roll bar.
You need a roll bar, you are no longer Pure Stock.

I would not do the survey sheet at the next race.
    (see “THE FACTS” above)

    THE BOTTOM LINE:
The only thing that whining will get you is for Dan and Bob to throw in the towel on the event.
Then we will have a real witch hunt on our hands.

Don’t be one of the "broken rubbers" that F#%!s this up for the rest of us.

I look forward to the event every year.

it seems like the 4 topics that come up over 'gray area' cars are

    1. transmission and converter/clutch

    2. camshaft, litfers and valve spring pressure

    3. bore, stroke, and piston configuration

    4. electronic engine controls

all of which are clearly defined in the rules, but difficult to tech, and possibly being blatently broken by certain cars

If the NHRA rule says my car can run 338 cubes at 12.1 compression by decking the block, cutting the heads, over boring to .070, running a thin gasket, and a .125 inch dome with a 3.25 stroke, then I need to run that combo that meets each of those specs, not a unmachined block and heads with a different piston design and stroke to get there.

If the rule says stock camshaft and valve train, I sure as hell should not be running valve springs that have 2 times the pressure that a stock cam calls for.

If my automatic trans does not go from 1 to 2 to 3 and back to 1 on it's own, and the converter flashes well beyond 2500, I need to go down to Aamco and get my valve body fixed.

If a magnet does not stick to my flywheel, or my heads, send me home.

I absolutely love this event, and plan all my summers around the races, and I would hate for anyone to toss in the towel..... this is still, by far, the best muscle car event on the planet, and I am proud to be apart of it.

Thanks for all the feed back everyone. Look, Dan and myself don't want to stop doing the event. We love putting it on, as much as you guys & gals love coming to it. I'm not going to forget you this time Roberta. Anyway the rules are pretty simple, just follow them within the spirit of the race and everything will be just fine.

Good discussion! During the winter months, I run the Michigan Hopra series (HO professional racing association, Slot cars) We have run into the exact same issues when it comes to rules. I like the idea of asking for input from the racers and that is what we do, ask for input and then make a decision that is best for the organization. People get really upset and stop showing up when you make rules changes and they go and make the changes and then have to go back to what they had. We run into this every season and people that miss a year are now running obolete cars and are not competitive and stop showing up. This is no different. Put out the survey to ask the racers what they want, if you dont fill out the survey and give your opinion, then shut up and race what the rules are or stay home!!. ANY CHANCE OF ALLOWING FULL ROLLER ROCKERS?, After all they do nothing any way!!! Time for more motrin after putting in a brand new muncie today! Not a chance of getting sent home for going 11.49.
