    It was repainted before I bought it, and supposedly it was silver, but the gunmetal color seems more pronounced than something that would be on an original 67. I need to look into this...!

    I do know the chassis and body are in remarkably good condition, and there are mostly original parts on the car.

    The immediate areas to address are brake hoses, brake system, steering linkage, wear and tear issues. Some wiring issues, etc. A few oil leaks, and some exhaust gas leaks.

    I would like to rebuild the engine and get the performance up a little bit. I will have a full review of the car in a few days and prioritize what I can do on the initial budget. I hope to keep it period correct but get the performance up and everything working tight. Maybe like a stock appearing car eventually.

    I can post again when I get the details. I will be going through it thoroughly in the next few days, and get an idea of all her issues...but so far so good.

    There is definitely something cool about the Buick Wildcat, I took a chance not researching ahead of time but she was just too cool when I saw her and now it might be a good project and fun occasional driver. Since I bought her, I drove her a couple of times then I put her in air con storage and now its time to do some work.

    Any updated pictures of that brush paint job? We have talked about this a few times on this board and I/we would like to see your progress.

    New to the board.... new to Buicks. Just picked up this 64 Electra Sports Coupe. This thing is decked out. Power everything, even has the center console / bucket seats upgrade. I havent seen any others out there like it. Just lovin it. So far gave "Priscilla" a new alternator, battery, voltage regulator. She loved her new power SOOO much she started gushing fuel and overloading her Rochester 4 barrel. So installing a pressure regulator and I will be driving this daily.

    Welcome to the board! Nice find! Love those big duece's. As far as gas gushing out of your carb, it more than likely needs to be cleaned or rebuilt. A pressure regulator is not required for your stock carb. A CLEAN needle and seat IS.

    Good Luck!,

    prob... well for sure anyway. i have carb phobea so...
    but i put a cheapo regulator on there from autozone it ran great and solved the gas overflow, but the thing turned out to be a POS.. just cheaply made and for show only type of part. I am grabbing a holly regulator from napa today and will use that one. regulates from 4.5-9, should work great at around 5psi.
    This all started after I installed the new alternator, volt reg, and battery. Orig owner rewired a bunch of stuff so now im going in and undoing stuff and making the car reliable again. So, my guess is that something is getting too much juice now and pumping fuel too fast. Regulator will slow that down and run fine.
    My concern though is fuel pump is mechanical so it cant be that... what would it be. And if something is getting too much power then I run the risk of it frying down the road... and if I am slowing the fuel down am I risking the fuel pump to fail. AND as you put it it could just be the carb needs a good cleaning.

    Anyway.. hopefully I will break out of this, fix one thing... break another, soon. (-;

    Your electrical upgrade has absolutely nothing to do with your fuel problem. You really need to take that carb off and have someone that's not a carbophobic take a look at it.

    prob right... it was running fine and then i made those changes when the alt died... it then immediately had the prob. So just looking at cause and effect. But I will get a book and a kit and go for it... whats the worse I could do. I just hope this gets me back on the road.

    Thanks!:beer

    Hi , new to this forum as of today. Just picked up a 67 Skylark 4-door Hardtop. 340 with 4 barrel, automatic, PS, PB, PW, P seat, A/C. Car runs and drives but needs some help. Be interested in conversing with other 67 owners as well as folks near Baltimore, Md. who can supply new/used parts.
