Thanks Todd. From what I've seen of yours it likes you'll have another "first class ride" too!! I know that first comes safety, then performance and lastly looks. But I find it real hard to build something that doesn't look as good as it performs! I guess that's a sickness that a lot of us Buick guys have! :TU: I'm sure hoping for "track time" next spring, but with each week that passes, the company that I work for is going farther down the toilet!! Money seems harder and harder to come by. Another BIG group will get the "layoff notice" this Thursday. (Oops... Top Secret!). So far I'm safe, but I keep taking on more responsibilities, wearing more hats and taking home less pay! Somethings not right with that! I just wish I could find a decent, stable place to work and finish off my career. (8-10 more years). Guess that's not the "American way" any more. If I knew I could make a good living from SRE I would go back to it full time, but after doing the full time SRE thing for three years, I just don't see it happening again, (at least until I retire, then I'll consider it a "full time job"). lol Oh well, I "Vented" enough. Guess I'll keep plugging away like everyone else!! Later, Steve
I feel your pain Steve. I have more time than money this year as well. I really wanted to have the GS on the track this year but at the same time I did not want to cut ANY corners from the original plan. At least the Car itself is finished and we didn't deviate from the game plan at all. It's gonna be light and very stock appearing! I'm hoping to have enough money over the winter months to put together the motor this chassis deserves. If not, it'll just be more time which I have plenty of! Good luck with your project, I can't wait to see more pictures! It's evident you take pride in your work! .
Just to prove that I'm not being lazy....... my car is in the body shop (for two months now!) and is finally being worked on! Hope to have paint on it by the time I get back from BG. There is a good possibility that it will be running this summer! ray: ray: ray: LOL
Thanks, Typical white GSX looking race car. I was going to do some trick stuff with the paint, but I'll NEVER get it done if I do that! LOL Steve
Tyler is now thinking of painting the race car yellow with GSX stripes. He wants to make sure everyone knows it's a buick. Few years down the road maybe.
I thought about running mine in primer for the first year, but I just decided to "go for it" and finish the darn thing! I'm gettin' in the mood to RACE!!! LOL Steve
Steve, I am taking a set of Moroso 47xxx front springs out of my convertible. They are "lighter" than the 47160's, and were a perfect ride height for my combo (slightly low, where a cut set of 47160's would end up). I installed these last spring, and they have no passes on them and the engine was only in the car for 2 months. I can get you a part number so you can compare specs. They are yours, shipped too, as a donation to your fine project! :beers2:
Thanks Bob, that's mighty nice of you! (This club is FULL of "stand up" people). I won't know how these work until I get everything set up and try them, but it would be nice to try yours if mine don't pan out. I would be interested in what Moroso number they are. Thanks again!! Steve
Steve.......i will see that car in BG this october....can't wait......you can do it :TU: Peace WildBill
Thanks Bob, I discovered that number after looking at their web sight. Some Moroso lists have those listed for GM A bodies and some don't. I just assumed that they were the wrong diameter for our application, but apparently they're just a very low PSI rated spring. Thanks!! Steve
Thanks Jim. I'm going to be doing all that I can to have it ready for BG in October, but there is a LOT of work to do before it's ready to "roll". Meanwhile I'm busy taking care of customer orders and keeping a new wife happy, (LOL meaning maintaining two homes, painting, moving things, re-decorating, etc, etc.). I did get it back from the paint shop, so now it's all on "ME" as I can't use the excuse about the "damn painter isn't finished with it yet"! LOL It's all basic "10-10 White" right now but I'll be putting the stripes on later. I really need to get that 523 in place and fired up! Later,
